Are there any mods or .ini tweaks with which I can turn off distant land, buildings, or trees. Like in Oblivion.

The Tweak guides http://www.tweakguides.com/ are by far the best source for ini (and other) tweaks. He explains each one and why you may (or may not) want to use it. Plus, he has tweak guides for each operating system and for graphics cards also.

 

Recommended - do the system tweaks first, then the graphics card tweaks then the game tweaks for the best performance. A perfectly tweaked game is not going to run well on a poorly set up system or video card. :thumbsup:
