adam9122
Hey guys, so I stopped playing Oblivion for over a year now and I completely forgot how to mod and all that stuff. So below are some categories that contain different things. Soo... Tools I Need: (I think) 1. OBSE 2. Wyre Bash 3. OBMM 4. BOSS 5. OBGE? Mods: I really have no idea on what mods are good anymore. If someone could just give me a list of what mods are good for each category (Environmental, Textures, etc,.) that would be awesome. Questions: 1. How do I build my bashed patch correctly? 2. When mods ask you if you have other mods installed how do you incorporate all of those together? Let's say QTPIII asked me if I had better cities installed but I didn't but I was going to install it right after, how do I get that all in order? 3. Is there anything else I need or need to know? Thanks
rhapsodicink
Hey guys, so I stopped playing Oblivion for over a year now and I completely forgot how to mod and all that stuff. Thanks Yes, you need all of those except OBGE (I mean it's a good mod, but not NEEDED). To build your bashed patch, find the bashed patch.esp file in Wrye Bash. (If it's not there, then you need to move in to your data directory from your "oblivion mods" directory or "mopy" folder (I think, I haven't reinstalled Wrye Bash in a while). When you're ready to build your patch, right click on your bashed patch 0.esp file (in Wrye Bash) and click "rebuild patch". After that, a window will pop up with a lot of options. Take your time to scroll through all of the options so you can learn them all (there are a lot). bben46
As for which mods, start by looking at the top 100 list. These are the most popular ones. Pick the ones you like and try them. You don't need - and probably don't want every mod there as people do have different tastes. Learn and use either OMODs from OBMM or BAIN from Wrye bash for installing mods as they make it much easier to remove a mod you don't like or for troubleshooting. They each do basically the same thing and they are not incompatible, but trying to use both at once may be confusing. Don't try to install every mod at one time as then you will spend the next week trying to figure out which ones are causing problems and what the load order should be. Pick one or two SIMPLE mods to start with. get them working and get comfortable with installing mods. continue installing one or two at a time. Wrye Bash is not needed immediately unless you opt for one of the few mods that actually require it. OBMM is simpler for a neophyte and can do most of the simpler functions of setting load order and a few others. A bashed patch (the huge advantage of Wrye Bash) is not needed until you need to combine certain parts of mods to make them work together better. As already stated, OBGE can be a pain to work with at first. And is one of the first mods I recommend removing for troubleshooting problems. adam9122
One more question, I'm installing UOP at this moment and it's asking me if I have any body mods installed. I don't so I'm going to click no. But would if later I decide to install a body mod. How would I get UOP to work with that? Thanks very much for the help. HeyYou
I think if you install them afterwards, the simple act of installing whatever body mod will be adequate to the task. No further action required.
