SK796
Hello all, my first post on here - just looking for some help. This is my first time modding and I am willing to accept i've messed up somewhere. Basically, a favourite mod of mine ceased to work (Bullet Time) for some reason or another and at the time I had probably 40 or 50 active plugins (i'm an addict now) so I started playing around with the load order to see if that was causing issues. Long story short i ended up completely uninstalling and installing Fallout 4 again (this time with a backup folder) and started the modding process again slowly and carefully. Started with the PRC photorealism textures and plugin (which i had before uninstalling) and added a couple other mods to realise that the bullet time plugin will just not work in-game. Before i uninstalled fallout 4 initially i noticed other new plugins were also not working for whatever reason - namely the wait anywhere mod. I have a suspicion that the Phototrealism texture mod and plugin seem to be stopping other certain mods, or am i missing something? Someone please help me identify the problem so i can freely use all the mods i want to use
Moraelin
GENERALLY, when a mod stops working, it can be because: A. Some patch broke it, or B. Some other mod overwrote its changes. Unless it uses some script extender or custom DLL, my money is on B as the first thng to check. If two mods change the same thing, well, the last loaded mod "wins". That means the one that comes last in the load order in NMM or plugins.txt. So it's quite easy to add another mod and overwrite some change from a former one. What you can try as a first resort in such situations is basically make the mod you want to work the last one to load. Of course, now it will overwrite somethng you downloaded later, but at least you then know the mod still works. EDIT: That said, IF a mod only has textures, it shouldn't make an .esp mod stop working. Unless it has some corrupt textures that break the game engine, I guess. calibas2
Try Gophers videos on YouTube. His vids were invaluable in modding Fallout NV. Use a mod manager.
SK796
Thanks for your insights. The very first thing i did was put the mod in question to the bottom of the load order... and nothing. maybe it's the latest patch then as the Fallout 4 patches tend to mess up modding each time. i'll just wait for an updated version of the mod. And with regards to Using a manager, i do - i used it loads before. But sometimes it just won't work through the mod manager and i need to do it manually for certain options. or sometimes a mod just 'won't' install on nexus mod manager because reasons. Moraelin
PERSONALY, I'd also have a look directly in plugins.ini because that's what ultimately sets the load order in stone. Now I don't use NMM mysel, and so far I only heard good things about it, so don't take this as any kind of criticsm about it, but it can't hurt to check. Among other things because if a mod is listed twice in plugins.ini, it won't be loaded at all.
SK796
i've personally never come accross a plugin.ini file before; where is it located for you?
