Hawkeye1399
I have recently downloaded a whole bunch of building mods, so I went over to the Castle and went on a building spree... I used the .bat command to remove the item limit on the settlements, and apparently I had built so much that every time I even WALK anywhere within south Boston, I crash instantly. I also cannot fast travel to the Castle either. Anyone know how to help me with this without having to load back to a previous save? Because if I did that I would lose so much play time, as it was a long time before I had returned to the castle after I was done building. Thanks for your time! Kikaimegami
I believe it's generally a memory issue when you get to that point, so the crashing means your video card/system likely isn't up to the task of loading all that junk upon entering the relevant cells. To that end, you can try turning down all your graphics settings to the lowest possible just so you can get close enough to start scrapping/storing things, and approach slowly (no sprinting/running) to give things time to load. Also make sure nothing else is using memory in the background (close all browsers, image editors, pretty much anything else running, before loading the game). You can also temporarily disable those mods in NMM. You'll get a warning when loading the save and all the things you built from them will be gone, but at least you'll be able to load your save. You can then save again, and re-enable those mods to try again. Just don't build as much stuff next time. The nuclear option is "revertworld" in the console, but you will lose all changes to all settlements you have built/scrapped. It will revert everything in the world to its vanilla, new game state. And let this be a lesson in the future to go into the main menu and make a new save before you start a massive building project, then another new save after you're done  EDIT: Actually, my personal method of save file use is: If it's been a (real life) day since I last saved a new save, then it's time to do that again. If I reach an important milestone.. new save. If I'm quitting for the night after playing for way too many hours, that's a new save. Then in the future, when something goes really wrong with my save file, I will lose, at most, a real-time day's progress. Hawkeye1399
Well this sucks... Guess I am gonna have to disable the mods, as well as completely destroying all my other settlements in the process... I tried approaching the castle on lowest graphics while walking and I still crashed, I got farther than I normally did sprinting but in the end it still did not work. RIP my settlements. wax2k
You could also try to approach the settlement slowly until you see only some of the objects built. If you manage to do so without crashing, you could delete some of them via console commands and see if that helps.
Gilibran
There's a mod on the frontpage that removes a whole lot of invisible items and underwater items, rocks, seaweed etc. That might help loading in around the castle
