MysteriousStranger07
They seem to be getting the newest mods first. I prefer only using one method to install my mods. I just hop in the coming months Nexus start becoming the go to spot for the mods (Like Skyrim or Fallout.)Not that the Workshop is completely useless (I use it for like 1 game.) It also keeps Valve from thinking it can Eventual get a choke hold on the Wozniatic approach to modding. Free from corporate shy-sting. (I would rather pay for a mod from a "Pay for" website that isn't build of profiting as a middleman. Not that I'd want modding to be a consumer trend.) Lucubration
You know, I love the Nexus. I've been using it to host and get mods since I played Morrowind; however, the convenience of having built-in support for uploading mods to the Workshop from the modding kit cannot be denied. That's a huge advantage to Valve for Xcom 2 modding, and as long as they don't start trying to charge for user-created content (again) I will probably take advantage of it myself. CAWCAW
Basically this. It's not so much about The Nexus specifically for me, but I think DRM-locked modding to be a disgusting development.
davidlallen
Some statistics on downloads as of today, from the public pages of workshop and nexus. Leader pack: 13k downloads on nexus, 97k current subscribers on steamCapnbub accessories: 9k nexus, 90k steamEvac all: 6k nexus, 55k steam Now, a different important question is where to get the best modding advice/help? I know of four communities: nexus, steam, 2k, and reddit. Anybody know any others? The xcom2 modding forum here, according to the forums page, has 780 posts in 160 threads. The 2k forum has 1060 posts in 180 threads. The steam workshop discussion area has 790 threads, but I can't find how many posts. They don't break out mod requests separately but by scanning, it seems to be mostly requests and little information. I don't know how to count reddit. davidlallen
I'd like to look more in reddit, I am not very familiar with it. Today I joined the 2k forum and answered about 20 questions. I think the level of question and answer here is higher than the 2k forum. OTOH, at least theoretically, at the 2k forum there is a chance that a 2k community staffer might see the post. Deleted32045420User
We NEED a firaxis dev here with us, answering questions on threads from time to time, i mean right now we are shooting darts blindfolded at the code- sometimes we hit bullseye and sometimes we hit the big dude on the other side of the bar and getting beaten up(hard crashes and stuff) Edited February 18, 2016 by Guest
davidlallen
That would be nice, but we can't count on it. I have been active in 3-4 modding forums and rarely/ever was there a direct comment from any developer. Sometimes an active community staffer would forward something. Quaro
There are two XCOM modding reddits, /r/xdev and /r/xcom2mods. But the quality of discussion in this forum is much higher and being a smaller community can be helpful for keeping quality up.
