gapcomputer
Hello, i wonder if this is a error or something new, i made a couple mods, one of them include around 22 flags and is about 4 MB, today i update another mod also with flags (this one only contain 6 flags) and the size is 87 MB, so i doing something wrong? i went to ....XCOM 2 SDK\XComGame\Mods\AllFlags2\Content and is telling me that the file AllFlags2_ModShaderCache.upk is 85.7 MB, i don't save the mod with the Xcomgame folder (which is about 15 MB) the others files in the folder are fine, they are around 79 to 190 kb each, any help with this issue is appreciated. davidlallen
As long as your mod is working, I would not worry. It is very common for (other) modders to accidentally leave huge chunks of unused content in their files. 4 MB sounds fine for a number of small flag icons. davidlallen
Sorry, maybe I misunderstood. The way I understand upk files (which may be incomplete), you control what goes into your upk file, and no other mod should be altering it. So how could adding another person's mod, change your upk? AFAIK a proper upk file should have nothing in it, except what you put there, so it should not grow unexpectedly. If this is a problem, one painful approach may be to rebuild the upk file from scratch with your flags, and nothing else.
gapcomputer
just giving you an update, i did a rebuild wasn't working, i check the integrity of the tool cache and had like 67 files that need to be fixed, after that still the same, so i uninstall the tool, clean the registry and know directories, reinstall and voila i back in business, anyway, thanks for your time
Zyxpsilon
I'm having the same issue with a 89MBs shaderCache file. But if a fresh uninstall is the only solution to fix that mess, i doubt i shall be forced by the latest patch from Firaxis to go back online to re-download (again) 45Gigs+ for 3.5 hours (even at Fiber-25)!! It's plain silly. THEY should give us a more reasonable way to fix *their* mistake as i certainly don't want to PAY for the extra bandwidth usage. But... more so -- if in fact this isn't the last time we'd have to re-install the whole SDK. I mean, get real. :(
davidlallen
I've tried this a little more. It seems that if you delete the 80Mb file, then your upks don't display properly. That is, I have some upks. When I delete the 80 Mb file and load a new game, the objects (armors in this case) are all black. When I rebuild so the 80 Mb file is back again, then the same armors display the proper colors. So, it seems it isn't safe to just delete the file. But more investigation would be worthwhile; why should it always be 80+ Mb in size?
Zyxpsilon
Could this be "Caps'n'Hubs" somehow self-junk'ing through everyone's compiling process indirectly...??? Conspiracy theorists aside. ;) Cuz, its ShaderCache *IS* nearly 90MBs in size too. I can understand why it should require that much but certainly not when other isolated (all over the world) mods gets compiled --- locally but not entirely away from either 1) a screwed up ModBuddy IDE or 2) a Steam settings imbroglio with verifiable settings. Ya know, after all -- even the gimmicky Launcher needs to examine our highly variable data-flow(s) & stacked customization, uncommon at best.Heck, my own tiny custom list has nearly 14 different essentials already + some other junks to deal with by hacking their scan-slots!:D
