Game Freeze after being killed or in game load

Hi

My Fallout 3 doesn't seem to want to reload from the latest save point anytime I die but instead the game freezes. I have tried to pause and load the latest save before the game freezes but it appears as though it is loading...but never really gets around to actually loading anything!

I have a number of mods installed (FOOK2, FWE, EWE) most of the mods mentioned on this page http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/10/13/10-essential-fallout-3-mods/

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello! First off! you have a group of very complex mods. Are you mod install savvy? If not you might want to start with just one,play,then add another if every thing is OK. Make sure you check out FOIP for patches.

 

I am having the same problem but don't have those mods.

I would say I am fairly mod savvy. However I do not know much about the load time order or which patches I should apply and which not to. I found that if I pause the game and quit to the main menu I can reload from there the only problem is remembering to do that when I die!! I have seen a lot of people with this kind of problem around the net. Maybe if there was a mod to set the game to do that every time the character dies it can fix this mystery problem that folks like you and I have.

I suffer this issue on Oblivion, i have no idea what can cause it, and i'm pretty sure i haven't installed a Mod which runs a CTD script on clicking a saved game.

 

I'm glad you got a workaround, quitting to menu in Oblivion still causes CTD.

Have you tried removing CASM? I hear that causes some players problems. Also check out my last post on the "stutter remover" thread as I have found the cause of most of what was causing the instability.

I have just finished reinstalling the game and I am going to try re applying certain mods I felt most essential and see how it goes. I have read the freeze problem is simply a corrupt save file problem I believe it is true because those certain files still freeze on level up even with the mods disabled. I am going to start a new file and see how everything works out. I believe a good test point would be a save file right before exiting the vault because you almost level up every time you leave it.

Just read all of the above and, well, it does indeed looks like you've just got a corrupt savegame. Do you have FO3's auto-save function turned on?

By default, FO3 saves whenever you change cells, wait and fast-travel. It's highly recommended to turn those off and instead do a manual save from time to time. Just remember to save in different and/or new slots every time. (personally I continuously play with 3 save-games at the same time, every time I save, I override the oldest one.)

I have reinstalled the game and reinstalled the mods and all is well in my fallout 3 world now! I have random desktop crashes every so often but it is expect with the amount of mods I have. However I am now modding oblivion and having one issue with that. An unstoppable army of missing mesh errors are in my game I will be posting about it in the oblivion page if anyone is interested in helping me out. I believe the error is due to my ULComp mod.
