Should I start installing mods?

Even before Fallout 4 was released, I told myself I would not install any mods until the Creation Kit came out, just so I can be sure the mod was created through more... polished means, i guess? And so any mods I download now don't clash with mods created in the CK later down the line.

But some of the mods that are coming out look so crazy good and professionally made, I really didn't expect this to even be possible til the CK is released.

So yeah, my question is, do you think it is worth waiting for the Creation Kit to come out before installing, or should I just start now?

While the CK will allow for more diverse and in-depth mods and will make modding a tad bit easier to do, many of the mods already out there have been done with great effort and thoroughness. And even after the release of the CK, there will always be other mods that don't live up to that.

As long as you spend some time reading the mod's description and some posts and issue reports about it, to get a general impression of what it does, how it works, how good or bad it performs and how well it is maintained, you should be good to go. And don't get dismayed if something doesn't work right out of the box or if it conflicts with another mod. That's just how modding works and that won't get better with the CK.

Additionally, there are quite some helpful people out there, in case you ask for help on some issue. And there are guides like this one, which might also help. ( Yes, that was some shameless self-promotion  )

And just for reference, this is my current load order, excluding a bunch of texture mods, and all of them work just fine and play well with each other:

So to conclude: I don't think, that the CK will make modding a lot safer. And I am quite confident, that most mods which are well-maintained now, will continue being well-maintained after the release of the CK and will be patched if necessary. I can't tell you if you should start, that's your decision. But I don't see much reason, not to... ;)

Even if you don't add any mods that change the physical content (and I'm not saying you shouldn't - there's some great stuff out there that can really enhance the game), if you're going to be roaming the wastelands it's nice to have something to listen to.

The "More Where That Came From" and "Old World Radio - Boston" mods are both worth checking out.

The first one adds a bunch of new songs to the Diamond City radio station.

The second one adds new radio stations, with professional voice acting for the DJs, and some amusing lore-friendly commercials.
