Honest Hearts Story Issues (SPOILERS)

I thought Honest Hearts is a very nice modder's resources!

Sorta 'meh' as far as a DCL goes.

I did have a real issue with the two paths available to be taken in the ending questlines.

It seems the writers didnt take into consideration the Courior's perspective when writing the scripts for the questlines. When given the choice to flee or fight. All the arguements that they have the Courior using for either way never take the Mojave into consideration.

Given the conflict that lays ahead for the Courior and the prospect of all the White Legs troops being added to the vast Legion. That should have come up somewhere in the dialog scripts.

As the badass Legionare that I was, I felt it my duty and honor to kill the Burned Man. I felt extremely disappointed to find out that there was no storyline in opposition to the Burned Man. No way to join forces with the White legs. Very boring. Killed everyone in my way, got the map, and then went back to the Mojave. Lame and boring.

Yea, I can understand your frustration. I don't play the Legion side of the game, myself. But, I do agree with you that there should have been a 'Legion' side of the story. Something that let you align with the White Legs and help them defeat the Caananites and such.

During a dialogue with the burned man, i had the option to tell him that i didn't believe in all his religious thing. He then used 3 text screens to explain me that it was my best interest to annihilate the white legs, to avoid them spread into the Mojave and to keep open a trading route to the region. So yes, there is a reference to the Mojave but has to be invoked.

Said this, this DLC seems more a mod: tragically short. Also textures and models of armors and weapons looks quite poor to me. Not impressed.

Since it is is so short, at least make it awesome...

edit:

At second replay, i admit that i'm loving the story of the survivalist. That guy and his (sad) adventures captured my attention. At the end you take his rifle and it's like a sacred relic: sign that the plot was good.

Still have to understand how on earth he had a computer in each of his caves: why not handwritten notes?

Such hype from the fans and suspense/silence from its creators before the release of Honest Hearts, only to fall into disappointment after its release. What the hell are Obsidian and Bethesda playing at? Somehow I get the feeling that the next two DLC's will of the same quality. Outrage is starting to burn in me at how Obsidian ripped off its paying customers. No wonder the game industry is turning to hell because of piracy. Who in their right mind would want to pay for s*** like this?

Christ you guys are all the same.. How many lousy DLC's is gunna take before you guys quit whining about how it wasn't on par with your high standards? Sorry if I sound pissed but I just came back from gamefaqs and heard the same thing.. I don't how long all of you have been playing games but in my 14 years of gaming this is not new.. DLC's are specifically made to milk more money out of consumers who will buy them.. Not telling you much about the DLC is what i am sure of all you know is a marketing strategy. It opens people up to speculation which of course breeds hype. So in a way I understand the excitement and then the fall and disappointment, but if you have been an avid gamer for any longer than a year you should expect all DLC's to be this way.. Shame I know but its how it is, take it or leave it. Just don't whine........

I personally thought the story was very boring but was glad it was nothing like dead money. I am not upset I spent the money on honest hearts though because I think Zion is a fun place to explore and adventure in. Dead money I am disappointed in buying because of the fact once your done you cannot go back.. Not only that but once your done even if they did allow you to go back what would you do? Shoot the annoying green eyed people? Boring. Gamble in the casino with more green eyed people and be attacked by invincible holograms that shouldn't logically be able to hurt you in the first place? I don't think so...

Dan3345 i disagree. Pointing out the limits of the product is not whining for nothing, it's your right as customer. You are supposed to do it, it's feedback they receive.

Said this, it's pointless to make it a drama, of course, and nobody is crying. But if we cant' even say it, hell that's regime.

I guess I'm the only one who liked Dead Money much more than I did Honest Hearts. I found dead money to be fun because it stripped me of my awesome gear and made me fight to survive, I found that fun. On the other hand I didn't like that I couldn't return but all in all it was never a huge deal to me. Honest Hearts sadly feels very odd. The landscape seems too fake and condensed, it lacks the open feeling it should which would make me wanna explore but I find it to be just a jumble of paths and caves, nothing very exciting. The plot was very sub par and not very intriguing unlike the plot from Dead Money which I found interesting and creepy. I would rather fight the ghost people any day than the lame and pretty unimpressive looking tribals. With Honest hearts I was hoping for something like Point Lookout but I was sadly disappointed. But no matter what it doesn't change the fact that New Vegas is one of my favorite games.
