Why does my Oblivion Crash as soon as I enter a new cell? (HELP!)

Hi.

 

For hours now I've been trying to get my modded Oblivion to work but gosh darn it, it won't. Is is something wrong with my load order, conflicting mods or is it a wrye bash problem?

It is getting kinda frustrating now, and not to seem desperate but PLEASE HELP!

So, now I tried what you guys said, disabled the clocksofcyrodiil.esp and put the unof. SI patch to load before the dlcshiveringisles.esp, but it still crashes.

 

Worth mentioning is that I use a couple of texture replacers as well (But I've got I good rig that handles the fps well), for example

 

Qarl's texture pack III

 

and

 

Imperial City Reloaded

I've had Qarls since I installed the game and it has been working fine, however, I recently installed the IC replacer and since I did it seems like my game have been more unstable.

Well, what I do in that case is try to isolate the problem slowly.

 

First, copy your save games somewhere safe, so they don't get messed up. Then, first deactivate all mods and see if the game works ok that way. After that, activate just the first half and see if anything changes. If it's ok, then the problem is somewhere in the other half, if not, your faulty mod is in the half you activated. Continue expanding/narrowing the activated mods selection until you have pinpointed the exact one that's causing the problem. It's tedious I know, but it actualy can be done in about 15/20 minutes, and it saves a lot of nerves on the end :)

Uhhm, guys, why do you suggest load the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch before, you know Shivering Isles? Wouldn't kinda make the patch moot?

 

I do not see anything in particular wrong, and i am not familiar with Fran's, but shouldn't COBL Races go BEFORE the TNR? Should they even be all three loaded? I seem to remember something along those lines form the COBL docs...

BOSS loads Cobl Races quite low in the order, While Cobl TNR is right near the top. TNR / SI also need to be unchecked, and just be tag imported into the bashed patch (NPC & Race iirc)

 

If you haven't already, I suggest using BOSS to sort out your load order (the OP's LO looks like it does anyway).

 

@OP You could look into cleaning some of the mods - this page has a list of mods that do & don't need cleaning, as well as a link on how to clean them.

 

As mentioned earlier, you need to deactivate the Clocks of Cyrodill.esp, as BBC's version is a replacer (afaik it just causes you to have duplicate clocksin certain locations)

 

Other than that, do you use any Hi Res texture replacers like Qarl's, Bomret's? If yes, then your crashes could be just caused by GPU/CPU/Memory overload. I would suggest getting Oblivion Stutter Remover and Streamline to help with memory purges & FPS etc. (You could also use the Better Cities FPS patches too)

 

I would also try running without Salmo activated - That has been known to cause CTDs in the past, and it also doesn't run well with Immersive Interiors at this current time (you'll fall through the shop floor)

Yeah Streamline is definitely a good idea even on High End machines although it will take some tweaking and a LOT of doc reading ;) OSR, your mileage may vary. I turned it off recently and found my game to be more stable actually. however the Oblivion Crash Prevention System by we and FastExit2 are very useful.

 

BOSS is also not the end all to load order, as it frequently puts patches BEFORE the files they are supposed to patch even when they are known. But it is a good guide. Just make sure your load order has none of that before you start the game. Use Wrye Bash or OBMM to hand sort your order for the few mistakes BOSS makes.
