someguynamedjoe
Joshua Graham is, without a doubt, the most BAMF character so far in Fallout New Vegas, in my honest opinion. This guy is just too awesome to leave behind, never to speak of again. The sight of him would send Legionaries running, and make NCR Rangers soil themselves. He's a walking path of destruction, and I have an idea to legitimately bring him into the Mojave Wasteland via a convincing story and quest, after completing Honest Hearts. QUEST: ZION IN FLAMESUpon returning to Zion after completing Honest Hearts, you will find the Sorrows and Dead Horses in complete disarray, and appear to be panicking. One of them tells you to find Joshua Graham. When you do, he fills you in on the bad news; Caesar has gotten impatient with the White Legs, and has dispatched a large amount of Legionaries to Zion to finish the Burned Man off once and for all, a typical "guess I gotta do it myself" scenario. Joshua acknowledges that the superior numbers of the Legion will overwhelm the two Tribes, and that they'll stop at nothing to ensure Joshua Graham is dead. Sure enough, the Legion arrives to play. Wave after wave of Legionaries show up, and you have to kill them all. There WILL be casualties among the Sorrows and Dead Horses. After the fight, Joshua notes that they'll be back, and that Caesar won't stop until he is dead. Here, you have a choice... [speech] They're not going to give up. You need to take the fight to them.[barter] What if I said I can help provide food, shelter, and security for the tribes?[Caesar's Legion - Villified] Caesar's enemies are my friends. Come on. Join us![Mr. House] What if I said I had a very powerful friend who could help?[Yes Man] Vegas is my town. Caesar can't touch you there. Joshua Graham will be intrigued, and you will promise him that New Vegas will welcome him and the tribes with open arms. He will be reluctant, but ultimately, he will accept, knowing that a pre-war city full of Securitrons will make it hard for Caesar to harm his followers. He just has one extra stipulation: He wants to open a missionary church in New Vegas. QUEST: MISSIONARIES ON MY PORCHFast forward to Freeside. Remember that large, empty, boarded-up building near the NCR soup kitchen and Cerulean Electronics? This will be Joshua's home, and if Daniel is still alive, he will be there as a permanent restaurant. This building will also be Graham's loyalty quest, to unlock extra perks. The front of the building will be a church-like building, with hand-painted religious murals, park benches for pews, and other religious paraphernalia. In the back of the Church will be Graham's armory, where he keeps his .45 Pistols, and where you will find him when he's fired (he refuses to go to the Lucky 38). His loyalty quest will involve building his church into a full-fledged religious building. He will ask you to go to different places in the Wasteland to salvage materials for his church, such as in-tact Bibles. He'll also want donations to refurbish the building, to open his missionary to the people of Freeside, hoping for converts. If you fully upgrade his church, for which Daniel will become the pastor, he will gain a new Perk, called "Righteous Zeal", granting him and every other member of the party buffs to regeneration of both HP and AP. laochra
I agree this guy is awesome!!!!! Although I have to say I imagined him more fearsome and brutal. I was sort of let down by his recent appearence, although it was still lethal! There are factors to intake here, after the battle with the white legs I don't think the zion tribes could withstand an army of highly trained and discipled legionaries after all Caeser wants this guy gone. And your forgetting when he gets to the mojave. If vulpes inculta could get into the strip im pretty sure they could assasinate graham. Again if Caeser knew he was in the area he would go into a frenzy and graham would surely die. Also for the attrocities commited during his campaign against the NCR I don't think they would be very welcoming either and so between scores of NCR rangers, 1st recon, Legion Centurions and Vexularies I don't think it would be feasible for Graham to set up a wee chapel in Freeside. someguynamedjoe
True, they couldn't possibly survive a Legion onslaught after the White Legs. BUT, that's why the Courier is there. Remember, Courier and Boone took on waves of Legionaries assaulting Bitter Springs practically by themselves. The Courier, Graham, and one or more of the Courier's companions could have a 300-like last stand defending the tribes, possibly luring the Legion through a choke-point in the mountains. But you're right about the NCR, I hadn't thought about that.
Doofus87
I think that it could still work, he'd just be incognito, given that he's wrapped in bandages he could just pass himself off as a victim of a horrible attack by some raiders (plenty to choose from) or of an accident in the great divide or the big empty. Personally, I'd love to have him as a permanent companion, the short time that you have him tag along was just not enough IMO. Particularly since I also love the fact that there's now a good official (and fairly decent) in game M1911 without having to go through some modders attempt. Not to disparage any who has made one, but all the versions that I've tried, I've felt were lacking. None of them captured the feeling of shooting a honest-to-god 1911 (given that I have one personally, I do have a little experience there. :P) That aside, his perk that buffs the M1911 would be a nice one to have along for a longer term. The other option would be to have Graham defect through your help to whichever faction you support (other than the Legion that is, I doubt that he'd be willing to try to rejoin them given his canon conversations indicating that he didn't join Ceaser in the first place in one jump, but rather got slowly sucked in bit by bit. As for the rest of the ideas, I do like them. Though, I guess another potential option (for those who evac rather than fight) would be to have Graham appear in the Mojave (possibly near the northern passage) under attack by legionnaires, where he puts out a radio call for help to the Courier (sans Graham's name of course.) Just a thought.
someguynamedjoe
I honestly can't think of another location Joshua would want to take residence in, for his tribes... unless they started building a new settlement somewhere or took residence in a Vault. The reason I think it should go this route is because he wouldn't otherwise have a reason to leave Zion, especially not unless his tribe came with him. Redfa11
I'm sure a silver tongue could convince NCR to tolerate Joshua. There should also be quests with waking-cloud and Follows-chalk, you could take follows-chalk deathclaw hunting and make pilgrimages or something with waking-cloud at possibly the yangatze memorial or something. laochra
The thing is, Malpais was one of the NCR's greatest enemies, they wouldn't let him off the hook just because the player asks them to . Caesar would constantly be trying to kill him as his very presence undermines Caesar's cult of personality. A church building mod doesn't sound very appealing IMO, and just because Graham is there doesn't mean Daniel has to be. Also if your developing a story, Graham wouldn't just up and away, he is the war chief and needed by the dead horses. If you were to have Graham I think he should be like Van Buren had him planned, a troublemaker, a cursed companion [abit epic]. One who refuses to drop his weapons and constantly leaves the courier in positions hard to defuse. The citizens of New Vegas will be scared of him and The only path you could take will him would be the Independant New Vegas, will Graham asking for an area to estabilish New Jericho [at which point the Dead horses will come to New Vegas]. sagittarius22
Why not clean Vault 3 from all Fiends and establish their new camp?
laochra
I don't see why he would have to bring the dead horses with him, they could be alright with Daniel. He could be travelling with you to repay his debt. AND his loyatly quest results in you getting his scorthced Legate armour!
