Hello all,

 

My name is Dave and I go by the name of Morto or SuperMorto when its taken. Im going to dribble on a bit here, but its about time I focused a little of my creativity in a place where I feel it will be appreciated. And also a place that covers all the things i like in games and communities. ie all things in the Nexus :)

 

The game I cover here is Fallout New Vegas.

 

Before I get into some details about what I would like to be dong here at the Nexus, I would just like to say thank you to all the hard workers around here, that have turned my FANV game into something a little more adult, creative and have themed it to some of my other fave games SC2 and Mass Effect. :) And due to the lack of decent 18 rated game out there (and you have to admit an 18 rating in a game = to about 12.... but a 18 rating on a website = 23 years old lol) and this is something that has crept up in many of my nights of gaming over the years. It is the fact the content in 18 rates game just isn't up to scratch. And places like this help us gamers get the content we think should be in our games. So thank you once again to the Nexus and all the users from my many mods. You have made my game 150% better than it was :) but also thank you to the companies and folks who make the game even though they are restricted by the standards they have forced upon them, im sure many companies would change the content of thier games if they had the chance (remember sex sells :) lol). And thanks for all of hard work and many great gaming moments! I thank you all!! :)

Now the reason im making my first post:

 

I would like to ask you....with a little bit of the comunities help I would like to create a mod, and post it up for download. I already have the idea but am in no position to start it. The idea is a good one like many are, but it is something I would like to keep to myself until It is released. But I need some help in creating it.

 

The Mod is simply:

 

Some new apparel made for a female and male for Fallout New Vegas. Much like the ghost variants mod which I love.

 

Thats it.

 

But at this point I know nothing or very little of creating it. I am a quick learner and pick things up very fast, I sit at my computer almost all of the time when not at work so im a bit of a nerd, but never had the patients to do something like this, and after seeing the likes of the Willow Mod (another great mod "lots of hard work") I think its about time I spent some of my "free" time making a mod many people can enjoy.

 

I would like the mod to be as professionally as possible, so it can fit into all your games neat and tidy just like the ghost variants mod.

 

So.........

 

Could one or many of you fantastic people start me off and point me in the right direction.

 

There are some rules though:

 

1. I don't want to spend any money, my time for this mod is for free but atm in my life i have no spare cash as im starting my own business. So free downloads is the only way. :(

2. I DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WANT TO DOWNLOAD FROM TORRENT OR RELATED SITES! This is something I strongly believe in and have never done it. Regardless of what some of you may think about the big companies, how would you feel about your stuff being taken for nothing?

3. Only help me if you have good solid advice, unless you know what I need to do and can direct me in a efficient way please leave the advice for the folks who know. Not that i dont think all advice is helpfull, just when your not sure of somthing, last thing you need is bad or wrong advice. So please only giove advice if you know 100% it will help me in my quest for making this mod.

 

Ok my rules, I know im here asking for help and rules sound a bit cheeky, but im here to make a free mod for this community so would like to make a good job of it. :)

 

The things I have and know:

 

I have Photoshop yipee! And im pretty handy with it, but not a professional.

I have no 3D editing software :(

Above average PC in terms of power and storage etc.

Also im running XP at its max/almost its max.

 

Things I know about creating a mod:

 

Erm.............................I know I have to do a little modelling and have done a little many years ago when I once tried to model for UT2008. That didn't go well, but i didn't have the focus then as what I have now.

Textures, well ill be good at it if I know how to do it, so ttexturing will be new to me as well :( lol

Coding, not sure at all about coding, this will be very new to me. Not sure how much coding I will have to do for a apparel mod but im sure there will be some.

 

Well folks that's about all I can tell you for now, this is why Im here and this is my plan :) you will see a lot more of me here on the nexus as i try to gather the info needed for my mod. But also just joining in with the fantastic community full of hard work and great mods :)

First off, welcome to the nexus!

 

Second: A mod not unlike the ghost variants mod eh? Well, one thing's for sure: you have a good taste.

 

At any rate: Have you already come across this site: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Category:New_Vegas

 

It has some very handy mod related advices and tutorials.

 

About your "rules":

 

1. Every single download here is free, so no worries there.

2. I couldn't agree more. Aside from my own opinion, piracy is an absolute no-go here anyways (pirates get banned, as they should), so no worries there either.

3. Personally I have hardly ever come across any "bad" advise here. Whenever people decide to give you some advise here, it's likely to be very good.

 

Oh, and don't be surprised if someone offers you a very specific type of meat in little cans :tongue:

And thanks for the advice, I made this post before i had a good look at the forums, wanted to giv myself a starting point. So now im looking about I notice most of the info is in front of me. but I suppose I still informed you all about what im here for and what some of my plans are :D

 

And glad to hear the forums are clean of any theft. The internet is rank with it all and i hate it.

Hit a problem,

 

 

Not sure on opening the NIF files. :(

 

Installed NifScope, but the option isnt in the import function in Blender?.......

 

EDIT* Just noticed was looking at at Nif Scripts install, but now on Skope, but the Apps file doesn't exist (XP) should I just create?????

I don't know anything about NIF files, so I can't help you with that.

I think it would be better to ask about such problems in the appropriate section of this forum instead of here.
