PAPVAFS11
My question is mostly in the topic title, but I'd like to explain and expand it a bit more. A couple of my past threads mentioned that I'm working on an NPC that always wears a specific set of armor. This armor encompasses their entire body and has a head and face included with it. What I would like to do, if it's at all possible, is to allow the character to perform rudimentary facial expressions like blinking and moving their eyes via the armor. I've looked around for what the eye bones are called, where they are, or if they even exist and, so far, have found nothing. I hope I'm just not looking hard enough. Is what I'm trying to do possible? If not, is there another way I could accomplish this, even if it doesn't involve armor?
PAPVAFS11
It's been more than a week and the topic's since dropped off the front page, so a bump shouldn't be too greedy. Does anyone know how to do this? Or if it's possible?
Fenryr3001
I don't know, but it would be very hard to do.
StupidAnswer
Well making a new model at this point would probably make more sense. I dont think you can add animations to armours. Edited March 5, 2016 by StupidAnswer
KiCHo666
Things like facial expressions and eyes are not controlled by bones. Face gen is used for that.Creatures use bones to move eyes or to do basic facial expressions. Why do you need armor to make facial animations? Is it like a robot or...? PAPVAFS11
Well making a new model at this point would probably make more sense. I dont think you can add animations to armours. Well, that's a bother. I guess I already learned a long time ago that it's never as easy as just slapping on a few new bones, but dang. Things like facial expressions and eyes are not controlled by bones. Face gen is used for that.Creatures use bones to move eyes or to do basic facial expressions. Why do you need armor to make facial animations? Is it like a robot or...? In a sense, almost the exact opposite of a robot, but that's not important. I wanted to make the armor copy the character's expressions so I could save on time, effort, and headaches instead of making a creature from the ground-up. Start with a human character that already does everything I want and jury-rig them with a permanent custom appearance. It's been a while since I last modded New Vegas and I'm still a novice when it comes to GECK work - only really gotten into basic scripting, stat tweaking, and weather changes - so I'm taking every shortcut I can get away with. I'd like to delve a little further into my ignorance and ask if it'd be possible to work out a workaround with custom races. I don't know a single thing about working with races, but would it be possible to achieve what I'm trying to do by splitting the model's face and eyes off into a custom race? Thanks for the help so far, everyone, and doubly so in advance for any answers to the race question.

Well, that's a bother. I guess I already learned a long time ago that it's never as easy as just slapping on a few new bones, but dang. You can add animations to armor. As an example of an outfit with baked in animations, check out Invalidfate's animated rogue outfit. But if your looking for something that runs the full gamut of facial expressions on a human you probably aren't going to want to do it via animating teh armor. I'm no expert in custom races, but I don't see why not. With a custom race you can choose a nif for the head, eyes, ears etc, and then use existing face morphs and other assets as normal. PAPVAFS11
I've started looking into making my NPC use a custom race, but I've come to the conclusion that the pages of my voodoo handbook covering "face morphs" are missing. To put it a little more plainly, I haven't the foggiest funking clue what I'm doing. The head model works just fine, but getting it to blink or display emotion is something that's beyond my area of expertise. I also have a terrible feeling that the eyes themselves are goofy and misaligned, but I haven't had a chance to test them in-game. Does anyone know of any guides out there that cover this subject? My sleep-deprived perusal of Google did nothing to get me on the right track. Edited April 1, 2016 by PAPVAFS11

If you still active on teh project I can query him re: the subject.
