All Hair mods not working

For whatever damn reason I can not get any and all hair mods to work. Not one goddamn hair mod. Every time I go back into that cursed character creator to create a character all that is there are those crappy vanilla hairs. I am so damn sick of it. Does anyone know exactly what works? I have companions that require different hair mods.

Also, I really wish someone would build a better FOMM. This one for TES is a piece of crap, you can't even test your load order. BOSS doesn't work well with Oblivion either. Now that I am done venting my frustration can someone please help me. Thank you.

Well, I have had about enough of Oblivion. 4 hours of troubleshooting is 3.5 hours more than I would normally spend. I will just stick with what works best. Fallout3, Fallout New Vegas, and Dragon Age Origins. I am beginning to think that I should not have pre- ordered Skyrim. I think I am going to cancel the order.

It's hard to know what problem you are having. Do you have a data folder inside the data folder? It's pretty easy for that to happen if you are making an OMOD and lose track of the directory structure. The first thing to check is whether the hair files actually went where the mod requires them to be. I assure you that hair mods work fine in Oblivion. Are you adding hair to standard races or to a custom race? If you have multiple cosmetic mods you may need Wrye Bash to resolve conflicts between them.

BOSS works great for me, but it only knows about 11,500 mods or so. There are plenty of mods on this site it doesn't know about. BOSS cannot resolve all conflicts, it just gives you an advised load order and sometimes you might disagree with it if you would prefer a different mod to override than the one the list puts in the later loading position. OBMM does have some tools you might not have been aware of, like the conflict detector, and the ability to timestamp and do multiple forms of archive invalidation (needed to make some textures show up). If you use Archive Invalidation in OBMM, it is recommended you use the default settings (redirection). You might want to download ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated instead and have done with it.

My top guess would be your hair files are not installed where they should be. Second guess would be that you downloaded a hair mod and expected that by installing it, it would automatically be applied to a custom race.

If you want a lot of hairstyles, you might look at Comprehensive Style Collection. If that one doesn't work for you, something else is wrong.

Thank you for replying.

I have both the FOMM and the ArchiveInvalidation for starters. However, I don't have Wrye Bash. I iinitially installed the Ren/Soya Pack; however, soya's hair doesn't show up. Only the vanilla and Rens with its blindfolds and stupid frigging masks. Moreover, because I have a D2D downloaded version of Oblivion I can't run OBSE. Unlike Steam these cocksuckers won't allow it. Other than the damn hair and no OBSE the game is running ok. The biggest problem is me, because I simply don't have the patience to sit here and troubleshoot for hours on end. I sat down to play a game, not work myself into a friggin heart attack. Perhaps I should stick with what works best for me: FO3, FNV and Dragon Age Origins.

In closing, I again thank you for responding. It was most appreciated.

I know how you feel: I gave up on hairstyles a long time ago. Just wear a helmet--really!

Wrye Bash is absolutely necessary to save your sanity--it's colour-coded--and has saved my game many, many times. Good luck.

PS: Get the Wrye Bash that's self contained.

Oh, I'm sorry you bought the D2D version. My first attempt to play Oblivion I bought the Impulse version, which is also encrypted. I got so frustrated with being unable to use OBSE I bought it all over again on Steam. I was not happy, and you have my sympathies. If you change your mind about playing Oblivion, you might want to reinstall it outside of Program Files if you have Windows 7 or Vista. User Account Controls (UAC) does protect your data but it was not really designed with gaming, much less modding in mind. If you do reinstall it, try to keep the path to it pretty short because some mods have very long names and Windows does not like really long file paths. I had a couple of mod files at one point that exceeded the maximum Windows allows for a file path.

Install wrye bash. In the mods tab, right click the bashed patch and select rebuild patch. In the race records section you can select things like bigger nords and orcs.....and all races have all hairs along with sexless hairs. Then click rebuild patch. I just tried it after having the same problem for hours...and it worked great!!!

This is a bit late, and you've likely found a resolve to this issue. The cause for you problem is most likely your load order. If you have a conflicting mod you wish to keep that has to come before your hair mod. Either create a new esp that includes your hair mods as a patch of sorts, or use a program like face gen lite to manually change your save games hair style/face preset to your liking. Good luck to you and good luck for anyone who reads this. Hopefully it helps!
