Hard PC Crash before final mission [Spoilers inside]

I cannot finish the game because I never reach the final mission.

To start:
When--The cut-scene involved is when the XCom Commander is in the suit which allows him to remotely operate the Avatar. Immediately after the scene shows the Avatar with a fancy weapon, it shifts to a group of soldiers lining a passageway of which I get a very brief flicker.
What--My PC reboots at that point. Note: It is one of those "bad" reboots like losing power where you have to decide which kind of startup to use; i.e., safe mode, normal, etc. This means not only that I cannot finish the game but these kinds of PC crashes, I have been told, do have the possibility of casing damage.

System Info:
OS -- Windows 7
Processor -- Intel Core i3 CPU [email protected] (4CPUs), ~2.9GHz
Memory -- 12288MB RAM
Page File -- 3159MB used, 21269 available
DirectX Verion -- 11

Graphics card -- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 with approx. 4038 MB memory
Driver 361.91

 

 

If anyone has an idea let me know.

 

PS: Yes I tried without any mods and lowest graphics setting.

did you try verifying game cache in steam, just in case
