jangove
I'm honestly not sure this is a mod problem; I don't think it was happening when I was playing a pure vanilla game, but I haven't done that in quite a while. As much as anything I'm wondering if this is happening to anyone else. Basically, the vertibird takes off, and then if flys in a straight line to its destination. No manuvering, no going up and down, just a straight as a ruler line between A and B and then it lands. It doesn't cause problems, as such. But it means that I don't get nearly as cool a view as I should, and that makes me very sad. And I take the vertibird a lot; I'm trying to play a no fast travel (although not survival mode, since I think the current survival mode isn't well implemented and since I hate bullet sponges. I'll wait for the GECK on that, and Project: Massachusetts or whatever it ends up being called). So my questions are these: 1) does/has this happened to anyone else?2) if it does, have you seen it with mods, in vanilla, or what?2b) were you able to fix it?2c) well then, for the love of god man, don't torment me, tell me what you did, good Sir!3) Does anyone have any non-obvious suggestions? Obviously, tearing the whole thing down and starting from zero mods is an option, but I'm loath to do that. It would take forever and almost certainly break things. My mod list is pretty large --large enough that I won't inflict it on anyone unless someone wants to help badly enough that they ask. But in summary: all most all the ballistic standalone weapons, sundry patches to make them work together in the LLs, Armor Keywords, armorsmith, New Caliber (+Patches) Better weapon mods (+patches, yet again), legendary mod Settlement keywords, (patches), homemaker, several other settlement mods, and a few dress up mods. I used to have RHD installed, and I used to have durable vertibirds installed. I pulled the vertibird one because I thought it might be the problem, and I pulled RHD because it simply was not working for no reason that I can tell, but that's not relevant here, I don't think (for the record, though, it isn't the menu limit issue; I eliminated that as a problem first thing). Really, its the huge number of compatibility patches more than the actual mods that makes my list so long. I'm in the process of making a consolidated mod that makes them all play nicely together as well as balancing the various standalones against each other and a couple of other things (i.e., no more M14s with radically different damage and recoil profiles from an Mk 14 ebr. There isn't anything wrong with either set of numbers, really. But it bugs me that they don't line up). Its my first mod, though and it keeps growing as I discover how to do more cool things... Anyway, If anyone has any advice, I'd be grateful, and I'd really like to know if anyone else has seen this behavior. Hell, like I said in the beginning, it might even be a vanilla problem; I have no real way of knowing without burning my whole install down. U1849KA
I've been seeing it a lot. A LOT. But! After the 1.5 patch, it stopped! They correctly flew over terrain and geometry, avoiding buildings and overpasses like I remember them doing before. Then, they broke again, just recently. I'm not sure why. I'm running a very heavily modded game, but I've seen it in Gopher's LP, as well, and he uses very few mods for that. Recent events:Built a settlement at Egret Tours Marina (unlikely, but maybe unlocking a settlement does it?) Had the 0 beds bug again at the Castle and Bunker Hill. Maybe when this happens, more things break? But I think I had this occur when my birds still worked, so, doubtful. I was in combat when the bird landed, killed a Bloatfly right next to it before getting in. Maybe the bird thinks it's in combat and as such is ignoring pathing? Else, maybe leaving from certain locations breaks the pathing, so it no longer tries to go for whatever mid-air pathnodes it's supposed to use to evade terrain and just goes through everything? I'm curious if removing and reinstalling the patch will fix them again... When they first broke, I thought I was just giving Beth the benefit of the doubts and only imagined remembering the birds flying around and over buildings, but they definitely started doing it again after the 1.5 patch. Until recently... Edited May 5, 2016 by U1849KA
