"landmarks" with specialized icons

ive had the cs for a good time now, and i plan on in the future getting more intimate with it.

 

however right now, i dont have the prowess.

 

what i want to do is, take the "Landmarks w/ wells" mod (http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=5475) and have different icons for Ayleid Wells, Runestones, Doomstones and Wayshrines.

 

i have limited knowledge of photoshop and can manage making the icons themselves,

but if someone wants to guide me along the way, help me get the current icon textures for reference, and tidy everything up i would be most appreciative.

 

i dont know much but im looking to learn.

In the CS, when you create a fast travel icon there is a list of possible icon types. Those forms of lists that you find in the CS are generally the type of Hard-coded things we can't change. Your' only option is to edit the existing ones, but tham means that you would loose some other icon types.

It may seem that way, but it really makes the landmarks system work better since it doesn't have to reference a second table to get all the information. What is available are things Bethsoft wanted to use, and it's all contained within a single image file. If you really must use a new icon for something, your best bet would probably be to replace the one used for mining sites (since those aren't used to describe anything too useful), and adjust all the landmarkers which mark mining sites to just use the cave markers. Then change all the wells, wayshrines, and such to use the mines icon. Yoiu're still replacing one, but it's one that most people wouldn't be too concerned about. However, they're all contained within a single image file, so what you change would conflict with most of the UI mods out there.
