I am looking to start modding and playing Morrowind, suggestions, help, ect.

Recommended Posts

I am deciding to finally start a playthrough of morrowind and I need help finding some good mods. Firstly, I want to increase the view/draw distance and lod. I have tried mge but I only want the further views, no new textures or faces. I am also looking for any good decoration or scenery mods, as well as more locations and filled in empty areas. I would also like to know of any good combat mods, or if I should just play with the vanilla combat system. Finally, I also want some mods to make the world seem more alive, and active. Please let me know of any other good mods too!

I might add onto or fix some things in this post if I remember things or need to clarify anything.

Also, please let me know if this is the wrong forum and I will delete or move this if I can.

Use vanilla combat system. Not that it's good but it is what the engine was intended for.

I personally think better bodies/ faces/ clothes are a good addition to.

Morrowind comes alive might suit you?

Thank you for the reply! Morrowind comes alive was exactly the kind of mod im looking for, and some of the authors other mods are look good to. I would rather pass on the better series because I like the vanilla looks. I think I will just play with the vanilla combat, but I still need help finding a good view/lod mod. Thanks again!

MGE does not add any new faces or textures, maybe you mistake it with Overhaul?

First of all, this guide - http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1305729-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/

1) Set MCP and MPP, they fix a lot of bugs and...just do it.

2) Theres a lot of mesh and texture replacers, use what you like. Also windows glow mod (windows glow at night)

3) Gameplay. Well, personally I can't live without

Necessities of Morrowind 3.03a - you need to eat, drink and sleep. Can cook food. Adds buildings and quests.

Bank Mod v2.4a (Indybank) - buy houses, keep your money at bank

LGNPC bundle + less generic Nerevarine, Tribunal, Bloodmoon - more than half of vanilla NPC have unique answers on topics

Antares Big Mod 7.62 - you can teach npc in guilds, send them to quests, reward them, promote, have companions etc

MWInhabitants Freeform (Vol 1) - some NPC (even added by other mods) will give you random quests like in daggerfall

MWInhabitants - Pickpockets (Vol 2) - somtimes in cities you will get robbed. You can return your moneyz later.

Morrowind Comes Alive 8.2 - adds ton of new npc

Children of Morrowind 2.0 - adds ton of children, a bit of cats and dogs

Starfires NPC Additions - even more npc, less generic than MCA. I use them together, but it can affect FPS if slow PC.

Animal Realism 1.0 - only blight animals (like cliff racers) will attack you. rats will run away if attacked etc.

Creatures XI (lore) - adds cool creatures

The Undead 5.0 - adds cool undeads

Nighttime Door Locks 1.1a - locks all doors at night (except temple, guilds, inns) in all cities for realism

NPC Schedule (beta2) - removes all common folk at night from city streets (works great with Nightime Door locks)

Holidays across Tamriel - Vvardenfell 1.03 - adds holydays

Romance 3.7 - have romantic thing and sex with any NPC in the game

Healers 1.0 (Simbelmyne Edit) - finally, healers (class) in temples etc will heal you for some money (as game suggests)

Weathering Weather BETA R4 - you will get more fatigue in the rain, can get sick from bad weather etc

Simple Seasons 1.0 - more snow at winter, more sun at summer etc

Book Rotate 5.3 - rotate books duh

Linora's Locking Bashing Beta Revision 2014 - you can bash locks and doors if your security is really low

Julan Ashlander Companion 2.02 - i don't usually use companions but this is something completely different

theres a lot more ofc but that are the basis for me + I use a lot of economy adjusters, party made by myself, but if you are completely new to the game its hard to recommend any specific ones.

4) Locations

Id recommend More Detailed Places 2013. It adds a lot of details to the world. Very slight conflicts with some mods like NoM that can be fixed in Construction Set in seconds. Other then that...theres really a lot of em, and what I usually do is take several mods that add details to the city, get them to work together, fix issues and overlays, merge them in one mod, sync it and fix issues with More Detailed places. So basically I build cities for my taste, and I don't even remember many mod names that I used to expand them so search yourself

5) Oh and

Ofc I won't even mention better bodies/heads/new beast bodies + Westly's Pluginless Head and Hair Replacer Complete (for MCA)

theres also robert bodies (which many preffer) but many mods require better bodies so it's a no brainer for me

Better Dialogue Font 1.1 - replaces original blurry font with a good one

Pluginless No Glow - removes stupid plastic glowing from magic items so you no longer look like a dork

Smart Crosshair 1.0a - crosshair will be gone if you don't need it + will turn red if you will steal something (like in oblivion)

TLM - The Lighting Mod Complete - I will never play without this. It changes all lights in game (more darker and realistic) and torches finally matter. but be sure to load this mod in the very end (after all mods that affect interior cells).

Wrye Mash - super duper utility for everything - fixing saves, load order, merge lists. Grab it immediately.
