Trypal7
Never had this happen before, don't know what the heck. To make a long one short, I messed up my game last night adding some more mods, so I just saved my save games as usuall, uninstalled oblivion, everything, and re-installed. Now, I can't get any of my saved games to load or start a new game. The game only works with the default loader on desktop, and that means ofcourse, starting a new game. Well, I can add mods and the game loads ok with default loader, but as soon as I try anything with obse, crash right when the load screen starts after selecting a save to load or start a new game. Am I forgetting a setting or a configuration change with obse?
HeyYou
Vista or Win7 machine, and installed to the default directory? If so, uninstall the game, (back up your saves again.) and delete the current install folder, and the one in My Games. Reinstall the game in C:\Games\Oblivion. I suspect UAC issues. It REALLY doesn't like how the OBSE Loader works. Views it as a virus.
Zombyfied
Well if you haven't (excuse me if you have, I merely skimmed over your post,) deleted some mods that may be clogging your OBSE/Oblivion saves, try doing that. If that does not work, disable the mods you downloaded earlier to see if they're conflicting with other mods. As stated before, if you're running it with Windows 7 or Vista, it seems that they do not enjoy modding Oblivion ( ). Try running the program in Administrative mode and see if that helps you. If not, come back here with results.
bben46
Win7 & Vista run Oblivion just fine. If you want to mod though, it's a good idea to NOT install to the default location. Due to the overzealous Windows UAC that will attempt to block any changes to programs installed in the Program Files folders - mods are changes. I have been running with Win7 x64 since it came out - NO compatibility mode, Just installed to C:\Games\Oblivion.
