Xenno
I started to play FNV again and loaded my last save played new DLCs , and was looking at my weapons and noticed something strange my Gobi has 66 damage, i just dont understand how is that possible my normal sniper rifle upgraded with carbon fiber parts and silencer does 50 but Gobi 66, im shure i did not chage that myself. Can anyone think what could be reason for that? kevkiev
Is it just the Gobi? (even 50 for the vanilla sniper sounds a little high - carbon parts and silencer shouldn't affect dmg.) I posted a similar problem in the Technical Support section awhile back, 'cept with me it seems to affect all weapons. Just happens randomly out of the blue, ie without any save between normalcy and way-high DAM. Also affects vendor and NPC weapons too. And it's not even consistent as to how high the DAM jumps on any occasion - sometimes around 20% or so, sometimes up to around + 50%. But then it'll go away out of the blue as well. Often, equipping the weapon will put the stats back to normal, but not always. One of the weirder things was with the Riot Shotgun M (from AWOP) - when I equipped it the DAM went to a flat 75 rather than showing a certain number x 7 to represent each of the pellets. Someone posted in my thread that unequipped weapons sometimes pick up on the stats other weapons so that could be at the heart of things. I tried a complete reinstall but that didn't seem to change anything. At this point, especially since things usually go back to normal when I equip the weapon, and the "bug" tends to go away by itself. I'm just ignoring it when it happens. Don't really know what else to do.

Doofus87
One thing that I know happens, is that the damage changes depending on what ammo type you have equipped. For instance, having the .308 JSP will make all .308 caliber weapons report as having a higher damage than when you have the normal .308 loaded.I just checked with This Machine and the Gobi Campaign Rifle and here's what I found usingGun | Gob| TM.308 | 53| 60AP | 50| 57HP | 92| 106JSP | 68| 78 So sorry if it looks crappy, first number after each ammo type is the damage for the Gobi, the second number is for This machine. Hope this helps ID if there's a problem with just you, or with New Vegas. :) I tried to format a table, but it seems that this isn't allowing me to use BB code or html to make tables. :/ Edited May 28, 2011 by Doofus87
Blewvane
Damage depends on type of ammo used, weapon condition, and experience ability with the weapon type.
kevkiev
if it's the "bug" at work it's more than ammo, condition, etc. Seems that sometimes weapon damage take on a higher damage when they're shown on the pipboy menu. Sometimes it changes when you equip the weapon, sometimes not. E.G. with the same skill level (obviously), ammo, etc. my brush gun "M" will show something like 120 damage then (usually but not always), when I equip it, it goes back to 87. Sometimes equipping doesn't change things tho. I don't think the actual DAM of the weapon changes though, so I just don't worry about it anymore. Someone posted awhile back in another thread that sometimes weapons pick up on the stats of other weapons in the list.
Gracinfields
Actually Doofus is right about this. If you weapon you have has a damage multiplier of 1.5x and switch to a weapon with ammo that does 1.0x or even 1.2x you will see the damage drop. But Switching between a 1x and another 1x damage will not change. So in short changing the multiplier no matter the caliber will always change the damage rating.
