Alchemy/Enchanting Loop stops working

So following situation. I try this alch ench loop where you basically make stronger potions all the time.

The thing is it works to a certain point and then stops working.

I use this method, but I tried different things.

So what happened is I got a 2k% potion. I tried to repeat it and then suddenly my potion was stuck at 420% and it basically didn't upgrade.

This is what happens all the time, potion gets stronger and stronger and then stops getting better for some reason. And the problem is, the already strong potion gets downgraded too.

 

1. Put on the Fortify Alchemy item/s
2. Create a Fortify restoration potion.
3. Drink Fortify restoration potion

4. Remove Fortify Alchemy and put it back on.
Repeat steps 2– 4 several times or until Fortify Alchemy level does not increase.

I tried different methods, like the one named above, and also different combinations like removing armor first and then drinking.

I don't know, but this was the game-breaking bug in Morrowind so it's good to have some cap in Skyrim. I think it's by design.

 

But maybe the values you saw at 2000% were because you were under the influence of potions and enchanted items and they dropped when the potions wore off? Maybe, if you drink one of the potions again, it will be back at 2000%?

There are dozens of people on Youtube who do this, people say it works after 1.9 too, but I can't get it to work.

 

 

I am doing it the same way as the guy in the second video, make potion, remove armor, drink put, put armor back on. The thing is it sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't.

No idea, mate. But while I don't like being one-shotted every 3 seconds, I also still like a decent challenge requiring some reasonably intelligent play, so I have not really noticed this issue. I don't need to storm through and speed run the game, so the normal limits on potions and gear seem to suit me fine. Most people are looking for ways to make the game more natural and realistic, which is why a large number of the mods I use do just that. But numbers like +4,110,186 seem just retarded to me! :D

 

Maybe someone on the Bethesda forum might know? Sometimes, actual designers and coders respond to threads over there.

 

Also, do you have any mods that might affect alchemy and enchanting?

PS was that 2nd video X-Box or PC, and what do you play on? I play on PC.

 

But the way the values suddenly jumped, it's obviously a bug and not a legit game mechanic, so may have been fixed by the time Legendary Edition came out, or maybe fixed by USKP or USLEEP (although I doubt it)?

 

Making more and more powerful potions should work but should follow a proper mathematical progression.

I don't know why, but it worked. Created a new character and it works on this one. But for some reason it still doesn't work on the old ones.

Don't really use this but the method is put on your gear make a resto potion quit alchemy.. take off gear first ... drink resto potion DO NOT leave initiatory screen go right to gear put back on..rinse and repeat as you will get stronger potion of your desired mixtures. A note though it is not infinite.. as a to strong of a potion can crash your game when using enchanting potions also health to much health will not work.

you also need physician and benefactor perk under alchemy for this to work better

This method is actually not that fun at all. Every weapon I have one shots enemies. Idk why, but the idea sounded fun first, but isn't fun at all right now.

 

 

Also, yes you can't repeat it as often as you want. The next potion I created, after the 35mil% one had negative numbers, no idea what kind of gear that would have created.
