g8rk0k
When I have, say an effect (from whatever source) of 60% shield does it mean I have a 60% chance of taking no damage or does it mean 60% of the damage total does not hit?
Sypron
I'm not entirely sure about that, but refer to this website for information regarding magical effects.
MastrGunZ
I'm pretty sure that it means 60% of the damage gets shaved off.
Rhydderch Hael
Shield spells are essentially armor effects tacked on top of the physical armor worn by the character. A 20% Shield adds 20 points to your Armor Rating. There's no reason to craft a shield above 85%, since the game limits Armor Rating to 85, and anything stronger is wasted. Armor Rating (and Shield spells) in the game reduces damage inflicted (translating into straight percentage value, capped at 85), and does not reduce Probability To Hit as you might find in games such as Diablo or the like. Probability To Hit in Oblivion is always 100%. If your character can strike the target, your character will hit the target. Attributes like Agility are designed to preclude stun-lock from a hit.
