dek55 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) Which way is better? To finish Dawnguard main quest first and side quests after that or the other way around? no spoilers please... Edited March 2, 2016 by dek55
Novem99 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I would always play the DLCs after the main quest. Otherwise the flow of the game would be disturbed too much in my opinion.
skyquest32 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 On the other hand if what you are is a vampire its better to establish that first and make a place for yourself in the world...unless your a werewolf, which is also OK I guess but the hair in your ears, people wont shut up about that....no manners it seems. If you somehow stopped them from saying it...you know they would still be thinking it...and hard.
dek55 Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Actually I was referring to DAWNGUARD main quest and side quests (given by Isran, Soline J. and Gunmar), not base game main quest (I usually leave that last).
Moksha8088 Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I do the main quest for Dawnguard but the side quests are now real snoozers. I still did Sorine's sidequests in my current game, but the Dawnguard never do use the fancier arrows. The game always seems fresher if you do the quests in a different order each time, as well as exchange old quest and adventure mods for new ones. Skyrim's premier mod, Interesting NPCs, will let you do most of its quests in a different order each time. Some quests like helping Inigo with his "brain vibrations" make sense to do early. Other companions like Vilja let you skip many of her voluminous quests if repetition makes them stale. You can spare yourself the repetitious tedium of Hearthfire by using a mod that has all the building ingredients on site. You still have to buy the lumber, but not be bored with collecting the other ingredients.

I do Dawnguard early for the crossbow recipe. For diversion, I get Dragonbreak Episodes 1 & 2.
Dwnldz Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I did the main quest first because it was just so interesting. Especially after the quest where I had to go to see what the vampires were looking for. Not sure but I doubt doing side quests first or after the main storyline would affect later on anything; there are no any OP quest rewards.
skyquest32 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 A fun side note, I think doing mq to a point effects what durniver says to you in s.c. in dawnguard he wont know your dragonborn if you don't.
dek55 Posted March 5, 2016 Author Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) I'll try to mix it up a bit, although I'll probably do more side missions first like I usually do in Elder Scrolls games.Btw, playing this game since 2011 and still haven't finished main quest :) Edited March 5, 2016 by dek55
