Vault 87

Hello, after I installed a couple of mods and started playing Fallout 3 again, I learned that I can't black out in cut scenes such as Vault 87, or when I do power armor training. Leaving me sitting there forever, so I have to reload a save, but it still won't work. Is there any way to fix this other than reinstalling the game or deleting all my mods?

Sound like one or more of your mods might be the cause of this. Have tried going through those scenes without mods enabled?

Also, what mods did you install? (if there's a lot, just post you load order)

Ok, I'm sorry to say this, but that is quite a mess of a load order.

Assuming you have FoMM, please try it's "load order report" function to sort your mods. (it's under "load order")

Otherwise, you can also try BOSS to auto-sort your load order.

Found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10193

Also, the DLC's absolutely need to be above any and all mods you install. (I know there are some exceptions to this, but you don't have those mods)

Like this:

[X] Fallout3.esm

[X] Anchorage.esm

[X] ThePitt.esm

[X] BrokenSteel.esm

[X] PointLookout.esm

[X] Zeta.esm

Please sort your load order like described above, then post your entire load order (including inactive ones) here again.

Good luck!

Edit: forgot the link.

It didn't fix if it was supposed to. I turned off all the mods, nothing happened again, except for a few minor problems being fixed. Maybe something important got overwritten when I added the mods.

Doubtful. Do you have any saves before your last save? Might be just a corrupt savegame.

I also get the distinct impression you're typing down your load order by hand. Am I right?

If so, it might be good to know that FoMM can do that for you. In FoMM, go to "Load Order", then select "Copy to clipboard". Then you can just copy it into your post.

Also, do you know how to "masterupdate" your load order?

I didn't have any corrupt game saves, only saves that were missing content, as I learned some problems between some of the mods, but no corrupt. And no, I don't know how to master update.

Ok, you'll need to have FO3 edit for that. Get it here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637

Just install it into the correct folder, then, when you go to your Fallout 3 folder, you get a new exe called "FO3Edit".

Make a copy of it in the same folder. then rename that copy to "FO3MasterUpdate".

Double click the new exe, wait for it to finish and close the window to save. That's all.

As for the Vault 87 bug:

Do you have your game update to the latest patch? (1.7)

You could also give lowering your graphics settings a try before the cut-scene.

Other then that, I really wouldn't know.

A corrupted save game cannot be detected simply by toggling your mods on and off. If a save appears to be corrupted, I would just suggest deleting it completely. The missing content message you get when you load a save is just because one or more mods that were active when the save was made, are no longer active or present.

If you have recently updated any mods before you started playing again, check the readme files to see if the author recommended doing a clean save or not. If you don't know how to do that, just ask.

You have a large number of mods that I am not familiar with, so I have no idea if any of them are .esm or .esp files. It is important to have all your .esm files loaded before your .esp files. The order in which each of these is placed is also important: files will override the ones above them in load order. I do see you have some FWE plug-ins but not the FWE .esm or .esps. If you do not wish to use FWE, uninstall those plug-ins. They are unneccessary and will affect your game in a small, but negative way.

Speaking of FWE, even if you are not interested in using it, I recommend going to the mod's page and clicking on the readme link. That particular readme is a bit out of date, but the section on Load Order will help you arrange your's better. Follow this link for FWE http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2761

When it comes to using FO3 Edit, I don't use the Master Update function, I make what is called a Merge Patch. A Merge Patch helps your mods run more smoothly together. After you have your load order more or less fixed, run FO3 Edit: it will either complete processing or find an error and stop. If it finds an error, it will tell you so. Correct any errors it finds, then run it again until all errors are fixed. Then right-click in the left hand window and select Create Merge Patch from the drop down menu. Enter a name for this and hit ok. You will know when this is finished. Exit FO3 Edit.

The next time you run FOMM, you're Merge Patch plug-in will be at the very bottom of the list. If it isn't checked, check it before you start playing. Also, leave it as the very last entry, unless you have a mod that states otherwise.

You should do this everytime you install or uninstall a mod. Updating mods that do not require clean saves should not require this. Before you do, though, uncheck your Merge Patch in FOMM, then delete it from your FO3 data folder.
