kevkiev
I can't believe I couldn't find the answer via google. Does the Hardware Monitor application have to be running, ie open on your desktop, to detect maximum temperature? I.E. When you look at the maximum CPU temperature, are you seeing the max temperature you've had since the HW software has been installed or just when you've had it running? (I've always assumed the former, but read something recently that puts me in doubt.) I guess an underlying question is, should you have the application open when you're benchmarking or gaming or is it ok to shut it off and you'll still be able to see your max benchmarking/gaming temps when you open it up next. Edit: ok, NVM, it's only when the app is actually open on your desktop.
HeyYou
I don't think CPUID, or the built in hardware monitor permanently keep track of data. I agree that the documentation for the program is somewhat lacking...... but, as it seems to have the ability to run in "ghost mode", I.E. no gui interface, I would suspect that the program needs to be running in the background to data log temps and such. kevkiev
Thanks, yeah, I just kept closer track of the temps I was seeing and determined that it logs temps only when its running. So it's pretty easy once you realize that (took me long enough... sigh) and I just shut it off then on again before benchmarking or gaming or whatever, and can get a good idea of the temps involved in each scenario. Edit: ummm... or, rather than shutting down/reloading, there's always the clear min/max temps thing in the view tab (just noticed that, sheesh)
obobski
You can minimize it to the tray and it will continue logging, but yes it has to be open and in memory to work - like all applications.
