kevkiev
After getting banished from the Institute, I spoke with Garvey about attacking the Institute, and he said the Minutemen would support me. The quest "Burning Cover" completed at that point, however when I immediately initiated another dialogue, he didn't offer to start the next quest which I believe is Defend the Castle. (I think I get to skip "Form Ranks" or whatever it is, since I have well over 8 settlements.) On Wiki, it refers to him not offering the quest after ending Burning Cover, but that fast traveling back to his location fixes it. I did that, but it didn't fix anything - I again only get Garvey's usual 'how are you/follow me...." dialogue options. Actually, I initially tooled around the wasteland for a while after speaking to Garvey and not getting further dialogue with him, thinking that would be the same effect as fast travelling, but no joy. When that didn't work, I went back to the save just before speaking to Garvey, thinking that maybe you actually needed to fast travel but, to repeat, it didn't. (Hope that made sense.) "Banished from the Institute" is still open in my quest log, but I thought that I'm supposed to do that in conjunction with the Minuteman Ending. Afaik, there's a way into the Institute without fast-travelling or teleporting but, yeah, I thought that was all part of the Minuteman ending. I'm tempted to find my way in by myself, to see if clearing that quest will help, but I don't want to screw things up more than they are. So how do I continue with the Minuteman ending? BTW, I completed "Inside Job" quite a while ago, where you copy the Institute's data onto the holotape and gave it to Sturgess. There's nothing on Radio Freedom ("All's quiet, just the way we like it" - speak for yourself!). I fast traveled to the Castle and.... nothing. Obviously I guess, by having Burning Cover, I've already spoken to Desdamona, who said I should get with the Minutemen to fight the Institute. I tried recruiting Garvey as a follower. I've waited 24 hours. I've waited 48 hours. I've been scouring the 'net trying to figure out what to do - Nothin'!! Grrrr..... Edit: ok, although I loathe using "setstage" I finally gave in and consoled in "setstage 00bdb04 10". I then spoke to Garvey and he talked about the Castle being in trouble and Defend the Castle initiated. YAY! Ha ha, I still think back sometimes to Todd Howard (I think it was TH) talking about how one should never use console commands (ANY console commands) as it WILL screw up your game. This, coming from Bethesda... that's soooo rich. Edit2: got through Defending the Castle (epic stuff) but, not unexpectedly, Garvey wouldn't give me the start of Nuclear Option so console commands to the rescue again. Typed in "setstage 0010c64a 10" to get the quest marker to appear over his head and he gave me the dialogue option that started the (end) quest. Gotta say, those last 2 quests were the best in the game imo. Absolutely loved 'em.
dark47
Good quests, but for me, both very buggy. I'm on the last quest now and Garvey and the rest of the Minutemen just teleported into the Institute. Now Garvey won't give me the explosives. Dam, the Minutemen quests were touchie this whole game. First I couldn't pick up the artillery schematics in the Armory at the Castle, and now this mess up. I really like this game, but it's almost too much work to keep it running.
kevkiev
Good quests, but for me, both very buggy. I'm on the last quest now and Garvey and the rest of the Minutemen just teleported into the Institute. Now Garvey won't give me the explosives. Dam, the Minutemen quests were touchie this whole game. First I couldn't pick up the artillery schematics in the Armory at the Castle, and now this mess up. I really like this game, but it's almost too much work to keep it running. Oh, man, I hear that. I've spent sooo much time on bug fixes.... Luckily, I've had reasonably good luck with actual quests (well... those 2 bugs above, can't finish the Cabot House quest, some "Cleanse the Commonwealth" quests that wouldn't close despite killing the target enemy... that's all that's coming to mind right now anyways) But so many other glitches its crazy. One that drives me especially crazy is the weapons hotkey bug. I don't even bother with hotkeys in a firefight anymore. Too many times trying to switch weapons mid-fight to be left holding a mittfull of air while taking minigun rounds by 3 Super Mutant Warlords. That REALLY sucks, I love(d) using hotkeys in battle. Edit: maybe not a quest bug in the sense of things being unable to progress but, certainly a quest bug in the sense of a scenario arising based on something that didn't happen. After destroying the Institute while being friendly with all other factions, I can't talk to PAM anymore. Well, literally I can but after doing another rogue courser quest for "her" (which itself was a little odd after destroying the Institute but, ok, a few probably got out) she started talking as though the BOS had been destroyed and sent me out to wipe out one of their patrols. I reloaded the save before handing in the courser quest and now avoid her at Railroad HQ. No way my char would do that, and the dialogue options give you no choice. (And what's up with everyone acting/talking about Glory being dead? Although, oddly, she doesn't say anything anymore.) I sure liked that ending though - I thought it was really well done. Gawd, I replayed the Castle Battle about 10 times. My settlement attacks usually last all of about 5 seconds so it was very cool to see a settlement's massive missile/ laser/ machinegun defence system (along with 19 armed-to-teeth settlers) being able to go at it for a nice stretch. At the end of the day, though, I've pretty much had it with this game. So many glitches, and the "streaming texture" thing is horrible. I have a pretty decent rig, but had to uninstall one of my HD landscape mods 'cuz I just couldn't deal with the landscape taking forever to load around me. (Still bothers me that other HD textures take a few seconds to load. Not much time, but it's very immersion-breaking to have to look at something for a few seconds when otherwise you'd just look at it in passing. Edit: upgraded to an even beefier card and higher speed RAM and that helped a bit) Think I'll be going back to Skyrim soon. Or maybe rediscover FO3 or FONV. At least until the GECK comes out and some of the wizardly modder types can have a go at fixing all that's wrong with this buggy mess of a game. Gruffydd
Glory is dead in the RR storyline at that point, but you may not have received the quest in which she is killed if you didn't complete the game with the RR. The same thing happened to me. If you're doing the RR quests, and are in the Underground Undercover quest, and refuse to complete Mass Fusion for Father (because, like me, you didn't want to become enemies with the BoS at that point), you fail Underground Undercover. However, it's in the quest immediately after that (Precipice of War), when the BoS attack the RR, that Glory is killed. The quest following that one (Rockets Red Glare) is where you destroy the Prydwen and the BoS. So, what's going on for you is that the game thinks you completed the quest line, because you got far enough along, and then destroyed the Institute, but you didn't do things it assumes were done. This is also why talking to PAM gives "hunt the BoS" quests. It thinks you've destroyed the Prydwen and are just mopping up.
