faggotrie Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) Hi guys, I am relatively new to modding. I downloaded and installed a few basic mods with Nexus Mod Manager, set my load order with LOOT, and cleaned the plugins with TES5Edit, at least the ones LOOT advised me to.I have a relatively strong laptop, yet I have complete freezes or ctds in less than 5 minutes of playing. I uploaded a picture of my mod list, and here are my specs:ASUS x550jx DM209Dprocessor: Intel Core i7-4720HQ, 3.6Ghz, 6 MB Cache, 4 Core video card: NVIDIA GeForce GT950M, 2GB 8GB Ram I tried some grass mods, but as far as I can tell I uninstalled them correctly, and LOOT doesn't see any problems with Flora Overhaul either. What could be done? Thanks in advance. TonyOQuinn Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Freezing after a few minutes can normally be solved by correcting your memory settings, either graphics or skse. Please post your enblocal.ini. If you don't have enb, use this guide. Check your skse.ini with this guide.

I do not have an enb yet, I plan using one but didn't want to install it since my game is already unstable without one. The guide about skse.ini tells me about Mod Organizer, which I don't currently use. Should I start using it? Seems to me, Nexus Mod Manager has the same function, and I'm already used to it. I downloaded skse.ini from the link the guide provided, installed it with Nexus Mod Manager, activated it but my game still crashes. I will take a deeper look into both guides tomorrow, but I'm uncertain about Mod Organizer. Thanks for the response
wolfsangeleyes Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 @Dunyn ENBoost is not the same as ENB (which are presets for nicer lighting/colours) IT is a memory management feature added to ENBSeries to address the crashes and freezes relating to the well-known system memory (RAM) limit of 32-bit applications like SkyrimPeople can use this without having to install an ENB mod.

I'm pretty sure I installed it correctly, according to the readme.txts that came with the downloads, and tried running skse loader as administrator. I also read that someone advised running ENBoost.exe as administrator too, but I didn't even find such a file. I don't know what could be wrong.
wolfsangeleyes Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) 1. Are you on windows 7 or windows 10? If you are on windows 10, read here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3089504-fix-for-skyrim-crashing-instantly-with-enb-on-windows-10/ I only use windows 7 myself so I can't help with windows 10, sorry. 2.Did you use wrapper version or injector? (I only use the wrapper version, so can't give any help/info on the injector version  ) 3. Did you place the d3d9.dll and the enbhost.exe in the right folder, which is the Steamapps/common/skyrim folder, not the Skyrim/Data 4. This video may be able to help you out. (do not use the download link in the description for ENBoost. I know you already have it, but just in case you decide to dl it again,.....use this link: http://enbdev.com/download.htm ) Note: the video is slightly out of date as you now only need to install the d3d9.dll and the enbhost.exe but the rest of the info is still valid and the enblocal.ini settings can help a lot > http://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost ) And you are right, there is no such thing as ENBoost.exe Edit: Found some more info. It could have something to do with DirectX. http://forum.step-project.com/topic/4790-windows-81-update-1-and-enb-dll-errors/ Edited March 6, 2016 by wolfsangeleyes

I appreciate all the infos and links you shared, definitely checking them out, but what's your stance on Mod Organiser? Is it something I should be using with Nexus Mod Manager, or is the latter fully functional on its own for issues like this. Thanks for the help Update: I did a bit of reading, and decided to forget about Mod Organizer, NMM is just fine for me.I'm on windows 10, using the Injector version, and apparently the issue was DirectX, as the solution you linked allowed me to reach the main menu. However, I still get a crash to desktop on loading any save. Edited March 25, 2016 by Dunyn
