PoppaSmirk
Some kind of NPC postman like the Skyrim couriers might be interesting, where every so often they track you down to "deliver your mail", which can lead to quests to complete.Once the GECK is out, having the same postman deliver mail to named people you have in your settlements, with the people reacting to the mail (again potentially leading to quests) would be fun, too. For just basic news, though, I assumed it was being brought with the provisioners, and that it was why (for example) you kept getting messages about settlements being under attack. A neat mod might be, once you have Piper firmly associated with you, to set up a larger office for her paper, and then occasionally have newspaper deliveries to the various settlements that would include "news" that could lead you to more quests. To 'reach back' to sourcing from other Bethesda games, I do fondly remember the somewhat regular newsheets of the "Black Horse Courier" from Morrowind and Oblivion, and even a MOD for Skyrim that brought the Black Horse Courier newspaper into the Skyrim worldspace. Getting a newspaper delivery from Pipers "Publick Occurances" would be a cool thing to see show up in the mail. Of course the Player/Hero would have to pay for a subscription to the paper. Piper doesn't give those things away (usually). If FO4 supported unique settler names in the vanilla game, it would be cool to make a Mail Carrier mod that would generate random pieces of mail for ppl in the settlements to receive. Of course the Player/Hero would only be able to open their own mail (even if they stole the mail from the mail box...lol ) UNLESS, as part of another side quest the Player/Hero was supposed to intercept a piece of mail. I just felt the Mail Carrier/Postal Service idea had a butt ton of possibilities to spawn side quests and have some rich dialogue open up in the game. I'm glad that its stirring up some ideas from others too :)
