  1. 1. Would you like this added?

    • Nah, it's fine as is.
    • Yes, I think it'd help the site
    • No, I think that rule is dumb anyways
    • I haven't even noticed a problem with ripped content
    • Meh, I guess so.

Just would like to point out though my account is old, I'm pretty new here so I don't know if this kind of thing has been discussed or before or not, or even implemented before.

But even though it's apparently a rule that you cannot post images with ripped/ported content in them, I see it pretty often in the image share sections. (Specifically on the oblivion section, as that's the nexus I view most) I hadn't known it was against the rules until I was PMed by an admin about it after I posted an image with some ripped content. (Which I removed immediately afterwards, mind you.)

So, all my suggestion is is to add a warning about it before you post an image, like with nudity. All you'd have to do is add to the little pink box "...or ripped content" (and possibly excessive gore, though I haven't seen much problems with this, personally.) This was just a small thing I thought of while looking in the oblivion image sections and seeing 4 images with ripped content in the same page, that's all. If you think it's dumb or unnecessary, that's fine too, hahah. xD I just think it'd just help the site overall concerning ripped content, (less people asking for it, and less people handing it out.) That's all. Have a nice day~

Well if uploading a mod is against the rules on the site then uploading an image of it would still be regarded as bad.

It will generate bad interest into the ripped items and if they are uploaded to other sites that do allow ripped content then that image would encourage users to search for the ripped content and thus find those sites.

The nexus will never allow or support using and making ripped content. It's illegal so if anyones using it... Then that is illegal too.

I think that not being allowed to upload an image is justified.

Nudity is a completely different issue however. Mods can be uploaded freely but under the "Adult" tag. So people need to know not to upload images of it to the normal imageshare. Which makes sense.

Ripped content however is in the rules and the site is clearly against it. So reminding people in imageshare doesn't seem to be needed.

But like you said, you were pm'ed about it and the image was removed.

If there was a message saying not to post that stuff then people would get banned for it. (As they were warned about it)

It's better this way, for both user and the staff.

I hope this helps.

The staff doesn't go out of their way to examine every image to be absolutely sure it doesn't depict any ripped content. So a few may slip through from time to time.

We have also found that too many warnings cause people with a short attention span to skip all of them and post without reading anything, or just assume the warnings must apply to someone else and not them - we see enough that somehow miss the other warnings now.

Alright then. c: Like I said it was just something I was considering. My train of thought was just "how many of these people are like me and don't know?". It's pretty clear upon entering the site that ripped content is bad (with good reason.) and that linking to it will lead you to an instant ban. As a new user, I understood and accepted this fully. However, when it came to the image share section, the rules appeared to be different. Imagine a new user (like myself) looking through the image share section, and then seeing several images of it. Then going to threads like "Mod Detectives" (for oblivion) and seeing people post images from the site, asking what such and such was, and being told that it was ripped content. Yet that image is still up there, and no one is banned. So, new user, assumes it's fine. (I know this could likely be fixed by... I don't know, reading the actual rules! xD But like you said, some people really don't read them. What I do is I usually skim through, assuming it's like most sites. If I miss something, I just mimic what everyone else does. Monkey see, monkey do. xD Which unfortunately led to me not knowing. Derp @ me.) I also know some users know it's wrong, but go ahead and post images of ripped content anyways, feeling that they can get away with it because everyone else does it. So I just thought that adding the warning would make the flow of ripped-content-images drop down significantly, and make users that know it's wrong but do it anyways think again before doing it.

But yes, that was just my train of thought and the fuel behind this idea of adding the small warning. Pardon me if it's a bit jumbled It's 7:48am, and I just woke up. xD

Thanks for the thought out replies, though! c:

I think this is an exceptionally, extraordinarly, amazingly wonderful idea. If the position of Robin is that absolutely zero tolerance is held for ripped content to even be SEEN here, then yes, that is an excellent, excellent idea.

Because there has been a lot of confusion about this. Is it bad to just see it? Does it become bad if it's talked about? Or is it only bad if a link is posted? Also it would save us the grief of knowing that some posters are doing it and nothing bad happens and others are unlucky and severely penalized for it.

So, yeah, I'd say clarifying that with a "Posting images of ripped content is as evil as posting images of boobies" box would be good.
