  1. Hey there, after banging my head against my keyboard for an embarrassing amount of time I managed to successfully convert one of Kalilies' skyrim hairs (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68311/?) to morrowind for my personal use. Yay! Sadly it was the only one of the many that didn't get this problem which you can see here: http://imgur.com/a/RkfD0 You can see that it's the texture but realllyyyy small and spewed all over the mesh strangely. Also included are the material and texture settings I put in in blender, as I'm pretty sure that's the relevant part. I'm pretty sure that I did everything the same as I did with the hair that worked. I can get this to show up in game with the strange texture. On the off chance that this is an easy fix I would love to know about it! Thanks for your time!
  2. Thank you very much for telling me! I was able to fix it. I always read (most of) the description of a mod before downloading it, to try and prevent "sorcery" from happening to me. I didn't realize the issue, if caused by the mod, would persist if I uninstalled properly, as I've never had anything in a mod remain after proper removal. Nothing obvious, at least. But then 90% of my mods are cosmetic since I'm among those scared of too many scripts, haha. But anyways I COMPLETELY missed the faction help when I was looking for information on the mod's page when I thought it was the issue. Guessed and used the imperial faction console code and happily walked through the gates of Windhelm. Figures the solution was right there the whole time. Thank you, board can be closed now. :)
  3. Actually I do, I thought that that was the issue when I first started getting attacked, because I was wearing imperial boots. (The mod is Civil War Overhaul, I installed it recently and I was eager to start the questline, but yeah, this happened instead.) I tried reloading and going in with no imperial stuff and they still attacked, so then I uninstalled the mod and it was still happening. I was running around in imperial boots and gloves for like 7 levels, though. I thought that it would only affect your faction if you did it in the presence of the opposite faction, but maybe it adds up? Wondering if I join the imperials instead and wipe out the stormcloaks if I can still have a relatively normal game on her. The losing faction at the end of the questline shrinks into camps, right? So if I takeover as imperial there's a chance I may be able to do stuff in those cities? Or is there console commands that can somehow help with this?
  4. I started a new character recently, only gotten her to about level 10. I'm having a major issue, though. Whenever I try to go to any stormcloak dominated town or just pass by any stormcloaks, they are hostile to me. I thought it was the guards at first (though I have no bounty) but I'm fine at places that belong to the imperials. I haven't even started the civil war questline yet, I wanted to join the stormcloaks on this character, so I haven't done anything in the past that would set them off. In fact, I've killed a few imperials on sight. I reloaded to a save where I was level 5 and the only things I had done was the starting quest and clearing out one bandit-infested mine, and they're still hostile to me. There isn't any problem like this occurring on my other character. Can anyone help me out?
  5. So this has happened to nearly everyone at some point, I fast traveled to Winterhold and a dragon and vampire attack triggered at the same time, joy. So as you can probably guess a few NPCs got killed, luckily there isn't much in Winterhold so only Birna and Ranmir died. No biggy, it was easy to find them and resurrect them through clicking on them and entering into the console "resurrect 1". So I go join the college which was the reason I went there in the first place so I could get access to the higher level restoration and alteration spells. I come back and wait a few hours till Birna should've opened her shop and at around 10am with it still locked I was able to figure out something was wrong. So I used the "player.moveto" command for Birna and found her corpse around the back of the shop. I have nooo idea how she died again. So I use the "resurrect 1" on her again and she goes and stands outside her shop. I assume she was standing there since her script wanted her to have the conversation with Ranmir that they should have when you first show up at Winterhold (and this was the first time I went to Winterhold on this character.) So I'm like alright I'll go and find Ranmir then. So I use the same "player.moveto" command and I get moved to just outside the inn, and there's no Ranmir there. So I try prid his refid and use the "moveto player" command and I know it did try to move him to me, but again I couldn't see him. So I go inside the inn because who knows, maybe he's in there? And yep he isn't in there. So to test I tried to move him to me again to no avail, I leave the inn and try moving myself to him and sure enough it moved me to where I tried to move him to me. So long story short Ranmir got killed somehow shortly after I resurrected him without me noticing and now his body is gone. It's still pretty sketchy to me how he died again in the first place, so I'm wondering if I should try the "placeatme" command which should summon a new copy of him. I've never used this command before because if he for some reason is still magically around somehow (I wouldn't put that nonsense past this game haha) then there'd be two of him running around with the same script and that'd be all sorts of bad. So is there another way to get him back? Or should I try doing it with the placeatme? EDIT: Alright what I just tried was enabling him and then using the resurrect 1 command on him. He's back and now he and Birna are just standing there looking at eachother. I tried disabling and enabling both of them and waiting for a few hours and fast traveling to Winterhold again but they're still standing there doing nothing. Any ideas? EDIT 2: So what I tried doing was reloading the save I took just as I entered Winterhold and was able to set them both as essential just before they died. However, after the battle was done they went back and just stood there staring at each other again. Wonderful, it seems that it's a one time script that happens and they can't do anything if it gets interrupted. (And with the vampire attack and dragon attack system in I honestly can't believe that it was set up like that.) So what I did was spawn a new instance of Birna in the shop and Ranmir in the inn. Turns out I can't do any of their quests if I kill off their glitched version since it registers them as dead. So now I have two of Birna and Ranmir. One pair stuck outside the shop forever. So my genius plan is to do the couple of quests associated with them asap and then kill off their duplicates and live with them being "dead."
  6. I'm not sure about the eyes, but here is a good color mod! http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13049 I personally love this one :) Maybe it was this one? o: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20801
  7. Kinda late but thanks for pointing me in the direction of that mod I asked about before! :) I've been looking around for a while for something like this, what I'm interested in is the chainmail texture on the body... I'm not a fan of super skimpy armors, and unfortunately for me there is a ton of those on here! It's a shame because the pieces that are there are usually very nice, so having something like this would really help me out! http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/images/2573978-1344902201.jpg
  8. So.. I just finished the Silver Hand quest in the Companions quest line, during this quest Skjor gets killed by the Silver Hand. However I noticed while I was in there that Skjor's body was nowhere to be found. I didn't think much of it since I saw the werewolf corpse nearby and just assumed that that was him since I hadn't done this in a while and didn't remember that. The quest proceeded as it should, Aela giving me the next quest in the questline with no problems. (As I can see yet.) However upon returning to Jorrvaskor to see if I could get more work Skjor was just sitting there at the table eating... The other companions have dialogue talking about Skjor's death, and they have no work for me. (I'm not sure if this is normal.) When talking to Skjor it only gives me the option to ask him about the companions and he tells me that he's still waiting for me to do stuff when I leave. So pretty much what I'm concerned about is if this is going to mess up the Companions questline for me at some point? Here's a picture I took with me by Skjor looking at the quest I just completed... http://oi48.tinypic.com/vxlqfq.jpg
  9. Hello there! I am looking for a mod I could've sworn I've heard about before, and I haven't been able to find it. It would make it so that NPCs would run away from dragons. I just got out of yet another fight where I was hurrying to kill the dragon before the nearby farmers and villagers who had started to punch the dragon would get killed. Like I said I could have sworn that a few months ago I saw a mod that did this, if I'm just imagining it I'll be really surprised if there's no mod out there that does this. Could anyone help me out? :)
  10. EDIT: Figures, huh? Literally 5 minutes after posting this, after not being able to figure it out for two hours, I find out what's wrong. I had an ENB modification that wasn't available for the modloader (so I didn't remember it was there.) As soon as I moved the d3d9.dll out of the skyrim folder all the problems vanished. So, feel free to lock this topic now, and sorry for cluttering up the forum! Maybe this will help out someone else that had the same issues I was having though, hopefully. c: Hi there, I bought Skyrim during November, and I had managed to avoid updating until two days ago. ( Steam automatically did it even though I set it not to... I'm still pretty angry at it. d: ) Since then, I can hardly get into the game. When I say hardly, I mean what's really weirding me out is that I've restarted the game about 100 times, 98 crashed, 2 times I was able to get in. The crashes are often times are during the Bethesda Logo, closing without an error message, and only sometimes crashing before the logo with a "skyrim has stopped working" error message. I tried both variations of the sound fix, (the 24bit 48000, and the 16bit 41000), I tried to rename my ini, I tried to verify the integrity of the game cache, I tried to delete most of my old saves, I used boss to organize my load order (I have around 20 mods), and when that didn't work, I disabled every mod and that didn't work either. I also have checked to see if I have directx updated and it's at the latest version. So... any more suggestions for me? I would like to save re-installing as the last resort, and I was wondering if there's a way for me to re-download the patch or go back to an older patch? Thanks for any help!
  11. Yeah, I married once on my arcane archer, mainly because that was one of the only achievements I hadn't gotten at that point. I was considering marrying Vilkas, however his warpaint is so annoying to me, it makes me think that he put a buttload of eyeliner on and then smeared it all over his face and cried, hahah. Plus the companions and my character didn't share pretty much any values/morals... I wanted to marry someone my character would like. P: Eventually settled for Marcurio since (in my eyes) he's one of the most attractive bachelors in the game, and because I thought my character shared traits with him. (Well versed in magic and arrogant.)
  12. I was shooting one of those random skooma dealers on the road near Morthal, and my bow paralyzed him and it did that one glitch where they spin out of control all around you. However I lost sight of him for a few seconds, turn around to look at Morthal, and I just see him falling, wayyy in the distance into Morthal. His health bar disappeared, and I just stood there for 10 seconds, partly because I was dumbfounded and partly because I was laughing myself into tears. (It was one of those things you'd have to see. I will forever regret not recording it, lmao.) Oh and also I killed some guy who challenged me in Whiterun, and as I was dragging his body to the little stream thing by the front doors into the city a little girl runs over and says: "What's that you got there? Oh! You're so lucky, I wish I found it first!".
  13. I've played a dozen characters by now, and the one I am currently playing is the one that is the most fun for me and has kept me around the longest! I kept making things too easy on my other characters by going "Oh it'll be fine, I will not smith/enchant too much, or I won't smith at all but still enchant, so that'll keep it challenging!" (It didn't.) So on this one I vowed to not put any perks into enchanting or smithing at all, and play on master. Primary skills on this character is archery, conjuration, and alchemy. I used to sneak at the beginning but it just wasn't as fun sneaking with the bow as it was with my dagger assassin, so I just ditched sneaking once I had the resources to keep things away from me. In a nutshell, gameplay on this character goes like this: Conjure one or two dremora lords, (two for dragons, one for anything else usually.) conjure a bow, use the dremora lord to hold aggro, and if the dremora dies then either fus-ro-dah the enemies backwards, use the turn ethereal shout, or use a slow poison on them to either kite them or summon another dremora. With no enchantmented or smithed up gear you will die in one or two hits if they get to you. You have plenty of resources to not be hit, though, so it stays fun. In my experience with this character, I go for hours without being hit. Encounters with ancient dragons are challenging and super fun, as you will get 1-shotted by them, and slowly pick away at their health until glorious victory! (: This is the first character I've made that I would personally consider balanced, and I highly suggest anyone who is frustrated with the game being too easy/hard to try a build like this.
  14. If you're in town and about to sell some stuff, find a beggar and give them a coin gold, to make some more profit on what you sell. c:
  15. Even though you've already decided to be neutral, I can't but add in my two cents. c: My first character was pretty simple, just getting a feel for the game. Because she was an imperial, I went with the imperials right off the bat. I like the empire side because keeping Skyrim attached to the empire meant that they'd be there to support the empire once they got back on their feet to fight off the thalmor, and being a part of the empire would mean that skyrim would not go to war with the thalmor (which crushed the empire.) I also like how it would mean good trade to the south for Skyrim, and how Skyrim acts as a northern guard for the rest of the empire. I also like how they seem tolerant of all the races. My second character was my RP character, an imperial assassin/mage who was fleeing Cyrodiil for Skyrim to join the stormcloaks, mostly to seek a position of power in Skyrim by doing so. I really didn't like the stormcloaks at first, I felt like they weren't really smart and had their minds clouded by a romantic idea of fighting for Skyrim's freedom. Plus the racism didn't help my opinion of them either. I also really felt like branching off from the empire was a bad idea since I figured the thalmor would crush skyrim like a bug. However when I found out that Hammerfell left the empire after losing a lot of land to the White-Gold Concordant, and was able to fight off the thalmor and get the Second Treaty of Stros M'kai with them, I felt that Skyrim being able to fight off the thalmor was quite possible, and suddenly the stormcloaks seemed much more exciting to me. In the end, I just wanted to see what effects both sides would have on Skyrim, as I'm the kind of player that likes to experience everything. With the current understanding of the two sides I have now, I have no personal favorite. It also doesn't change Skyrim itself a whole load, if I recall all that happens is that Jarls of the opposing side are changed to those of your side, and the guards all change to guards corresponding your side. Correct me if I'm wrong, though. So feel free to be neutral, it doesn't make a huge physical difference to the game in the long run. c:
  16. swords with assassin blade can only deal 1 strike and with a higher chances to get detected, while bows with deadly aim can deal even 3 times assassin blade damage because the chance to get detected is low, so I'm sticking with bow. and shooting is not wonky, I prefer skyrim system than oblivion, because like Daenlin said "there is no arrow that flies forever", and the curving shot makes the gravitation effect more realistic  Yeah, but that one strike with a dagger does x30 damage with the brotherhood gloves. In fact, I didn't even use the gloves and that was enough for me to one-shot pretty much everything I came across on master. :P And if you read what I wrote, the shadow warrior perk means you can walk up to someone, crouch and be hidden for a second. Which means you don't really have to sneak to get that one shot. Search "skyrim shadow warrior" on youtube if you aren't sure what I mean. This isn't to say that you should play dagger and not bow, since if you read what I wrote you'd see that I left that character because it was too strong, and am now playing another character that specializes in bow. (Also, if you think the room will be alerted when you backstab someone, they aren't. xD It's really funny sometimes.) ...And yes, the shooting is a bit weird. If you look, when you shoot, the arrow flies above where you are pointing. This means I have to point a bit below where I want to hit to get it to hit there. I also didn't say that they should get rid of the curve, just make it a little more realistic. (Which would mean that they would arc at a different angle and not go as far.)
  17. When it comes to balance, I don't think archery is the biggest offender. In my last playthrough, I specialized in dual destruction + impact and sneaky daggers + shadow warrior. After I had shadow warrior, I didn't even need to sneak anymore. Just find enemy, crouch, and one shot. (This was on master.) and when it came to dragons, I would just stun lock them to death with dual thunderbolts. It was fun for a while of course, but then I got incredibly bored. Every weapon can be super powerful with the right perks paired with it. I personally have more trouble with archery because as most of you probably know, aiming in skyrim with bows is wonky. xD (Your arrow fires ABOVE where you point, and doesn't arc properly.) I can't hit dragons in the air since I'm still not used to it. :P More on topic, I really like those artifact ideas!
  18. This actually just happened to me. Some guy challenged me to a duel in Whiterun, and after I killed him I was dragging his body to the little river thing they have by the entrance in order to get him out of the way. Up comes some little girl, who says "What's that you got there? Oh! You're so lucky! I wish I found it first!"
  19. The character I made recently specializes in: Archery, ice destruction, illusion, and sneak. Doing this for my first expert playthrough, as well as the first playthrough I'm going to do with triggering dragon spawn at the beginning. (I usually wait to around level 40 and when I have some magic resist armor.) Basically gameplay with this character is sneaking around with the bow, and when you see an enemy, place a destruction ground spell down. (Like runes, or walls.) Then just guide then over with the bow, and if they aren't dead by the time they get over to you, the trap you set up will probably get them. I use ice runes because it slows them down and paralyzes at low hp, but if it resists frost I will use fire. I also have a bit of illusion for the quiet cast perk and later invisibility, should I need it. I really wish they had a trap making skill, since that's what I wanted to emulate with this build. I also did a build pretty similar to this on a different character, except with conjuration instead of placed destruction spells. Unfortunately the summon kept blowing my cover, so it didn't work as well as I wanted. I was trying to emulate a hunter/pet class you'd see in mmorpgs. Would probably be fine if you weren't stealth.
  20. Hey, I have been wondering this for a bit. For my stealth assassin/mage I would like to wear the Jester/Cicero's outfit. However, it counts as clothes and thus has no armor at all, and I cannot put my own enchantments on it since it's already enchanted, which breaks the deal for me. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can replace the dragonscale armor's appearance with the Jester armor's appearance, so it looks like the Jester outfit but it has the stats of dragonscale armor? Does it involve renaming and such? I see there's a bunch of mods out there at the moment which does this exact thing, but not with the Jester armor. P: Can anyone tell me how to do it for myself?
  21. So, lately I've been trying to become the thane of riften on my new character. I've done this a few times before on other characters with no problem, but this one isn't going that smoothly... I did the quest with Wujeeta and the skooma trade, but I never got any dialogue about helping the citizens or becoming thane. I then did what I usually do to become thane and more... I delivered Bolli's message, I got the fire salts for the blacksmith, I cleared the Shor's Stone mine of spiders, I got firewood for Heartwood Mill, and I got the bow back from the ratways for Merryfair farm. Still, no dialogue about becoming the thane or helping the citizens. Please help! Honeyside is my favorite house, and I would like to have it on this character as well.
  22. Hello, pretty much what the title says. The character I'm playing now is not going to start the main quest until she's level 50, (41 or so atm.) so I won't have to deal with random ancient dragons owning me while I'm enjoying the scenery. P: I didn't get too far into the main quest on my other character before being eaten by a few ancients/elders (who for some reason start spawning around level 25? Despite them being like 40 or 50? xD Or so I've heard.) which made me start this character, so I'm not sure if they are intertwined or not. This may seem like a silly question, but I guess I'm asking if it's required to fight any dragons? Or if I have to be on the main quest to do some of the civil war quests? I'm eager to get out there and fight for the Imperials, so I'm just curious. Thanks for any help, and excuse my rambling.~
  23. Yeah it's happening to me too. (Using Imperial.) :\ I only use Shadowcloak of the Nocturnal for invisibility, so I can't say if it happens when I'm just using a potion or spell. I have a somewhat annoying workaround that'll only work if you're on the PC. I can suggest entering showracemenu (which brings up the character creation menu you have at the beginning of the game.) into the console in order to correct it, however it will reset some colors on your character (skin, lips, etc.), which you'd have to correct. If you're on the PC and choose to do this, just a word of caution, do not change your race in the menu, (even switching over for a second to look at them) or your skills will reset. You'll be fine otherwise. That's the only workaround I have now, not sure what to do if you aren't on the PC. P:
  24. Now, I'm not exactly sure how this happened... but I was in Riften, and I waited for a few hours so it'd be daytime and I could buy from the blacksmith, who was next to me at his forge at the time. After waiting until noon, I realized something was wrong. I couldn't find him anywhere, so I entered into the console the player.moveto (his refid) command to find him. Turns out, he has somehow ended up on the balcony of Riftwield Manor. He can't get out, because the door is barred from the other side. I tried to find an entrance into the house, but every entrance appears to be barred from the other side. Could anyone give me a suggestion on how to get him down? xD He's just sitting there constantly trying to open the door, lmao. EDIT: Forgot I posted this. After unsuccessfully trying to push him to go through the wall after TCL'ing him, I just sprint shield-bashed him off, hahaha. Had to pay a fine, but 'twas worth it after I heard him say: "If you try to kill me again, I might have kill you... you've been a great friend, that means a lot to me!"
  25. Just had a question about the heavy armor perk, "conditioning." The perk says: "Heavy armor weighs nothing and doesn't slow you down when worn." I had read somewhere that this makes it so that you could use heavy armor as a stealth character, and not have the disadvantage of being more noticeable. Can anyone confirm/deny this for me?
