Witcher Patches

I guess I'll try this then. I've been reading that some bad things happen after the patch. So far without the patch, I don't notice that anything "bad" is happening. I would like the downloads though. I have the Mysterious Merchant and some armor from ordering from Amazon I'd like to add. Not to mention Troll Trouble.

For myself the only thing i`ve noticed so far is when playing the dice game the text for roll and bet are not there as well as the ability to change difficulty level . AFAIK gameplay wasn`t affected .

 

There are two ways to get the 1.2 patch via the launcher or manually at http://www.en.thewitcher.com/patch1-2/

 

 

Which patch should I install? The directions say I should install 1.1 first, then 1.2? This is terribly confusing.

 

I sure want all those available downloads though.

If you are on the original version straight from the box then you need to install the 1.1 patch first before installing the 1.2 but if you are already on 1.1 then just install the 1.2 patch . Just a hint : This game is very particular when it comes to antivirus programs so i disable mine temporarily while installing the game and patches .

That's what I thought that I'd have to install the 1.1 first then the 1.2.

I CANNOT install 1.1. It says the game is invalid. It also says to uninstall and re-install and 1.1 will be installed when I do this, then patch 1.2. Does this sound correct? Will I have to start all over? UGH! I AM SOOOOOO CONFUSED :pinch:

Alright, I uninstalled the game completely, when it askes. Even the saves :facepalm: ..........But, when I reinstalled, the game installs patches 1.1 and 1.2 automatically.

 

I thought I would have to start from the very beginning but somehow the saves were in there and I could continue on from where I left off. I don't know how but all my saves were there so SUCCESS :thumbsup:

 

Geralt now has a new hairstyle and some armor that magically appeared in the inventory and I couldn't be happier.

I had to do the same thing when i tried to apply the 1.2 patch...from what i remember the saved game question is kinda tricky in that you need to select the opposite for what it asks about the save games and whether to want to keep them . The extra armor is from the DLC`s as well as the barber and extra oils and the secret merchant since i had already passed act 1 when i installed 1.2 i missed but i found him in act 2 .

With regard to anti-virus, I use the free version of AVG and it didn't have any detrimental effect on getting the patches or patching the game, to date I've never had to disable AVG in order to download anything. (And haven't had any infections either in the past 6 years since I was pointed in the right direction!)
