deu58
Have you added this fix to your Fallout ini file yet? http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/20199-fallout-3-windows-7-w-quad-core.html This fix will stabilize the main game. Of course any mod problems will still cause you some grief but perhaps not as much. There are 2 ini files. Fallout.ini is in, Documents\My Games\FalloutNV The second one is Fallout_default.ini and it is located, Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas The txt files are identical. The problem is if you only make edits to the my games ini the steam ini will from time to time over write the my games file and you find yourself having to the edits over and over. Do them both and it is one time thing that will not be overwritten
HWG
Those fixes were not in my .ini, so I will give them a go and report back here at the end of the day. Thanks deu58!
HWG
Still got occasional crashes, but I think that's the nature of the beast... definitely helped with playtime though.
deu58
Even with all mods disabled you are still crashing? Have you checked for mod conflicts through FNVedit?
HWG
No, very rarely crashing with just FalloutNV.esm, if ever. I'm more concerned if there is one underlying conflict with a mod / mods. Explain this whole conflict checking thing to me with FNVedit, I've never fully gotten it.
deu58
Its not hard really. Just load all your mods into it and expand the tree for the different mods listed looking for red areas is the basic idea. It is easy to use but difficult to explain. Not every red field is really a bad thing per se. The trick is to learn to discern what may be actually causing a problem and what may really be no big deal. For example lets say you have two mods that add unique items to the same container one of those mods is going to over write the other mod and this will show as red in FNVedit but that is not going to crash the game. It just means that what ever mod is loading last is over writing the mod that loaded first. But if the red is showing in say the texture or mesh file for an item in the model file name section that could be causing a crash. Mods that add areas may be in conflict and you would find those conflicts in the "world space" category of the data tree and those can be a pain in the dink if it is a big mod. By pain in the dink I mean they may have numerous sub levels and you have to look at each sub level. Just because you open the first level and see all green does not mean there are no problems at a deeper sublevel and you have to open each and every one of them allllll the way down to make sure there are no problems. Here is a link to download a very well written manual for FNVedit.http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38413 Do not let the size of the manual scare you off. It is like 170 pages in PDF. You only need just a few of those pages to get you going for understanding conflict detection. Do not try any of the merging or cleaning functions until you learn the basic conflict detection stuff. There is a table of contents, Lots of actual pictures to step you through all the different things the program can do. But the actual conflict detection stuff probably with in an hour or so you will whizzing through it like a pro.
pickinthebanjo
I can almost guarentee that this is a load order problem. You will need to activate each mod one at a time and do some serious testing each time you load a new mod. Start by activating the simple mods like, weapons mods, projectile tweaks, ect then move on the the mods that actually change the world itself (these can lead to load order problems at times). Do some research on how well certain mods work together because some just wont go together at all. If you spend enough time testing your load order than you will fix this problem. It's not just as simple as removing some mods you will need to completely test how each interact one at a time. I had to do this about two weeks ago, I finally just got it right last night. Be patient and test throughly.
ixdevilockxi
Im getting the same issues, I have about the same mods installed. I always crash outside leaving bolder city, near the small trade spot [route 199 or something]. As soon as the ranger shows up to give me the NCR emergancy radio I crash. Same thing happens around the Thorn entrance [when it loads the fences in the distance]. I used wyre brash, python and all that to create a complied patch, but to no avail. I have an ASUS G73JW and it handles the game like a beast on max graphic settings till i hit route 199 and the thorn. Here's my load order. ixdevilockxi
If your facing consistent game crashes after 20-30 minutes into the game, try disabling Steam Cloud Sync, it may resolve this issue.
