Lisnpuppy
Hi and welcome! Congrats on your PC and your PC gaming! Hopefully you will have more fun that frustration. That being said I will offer some advice. Oblivion and Skyrim are very different games in many ways. Not just the writing and graphics, but game mechanics and modding. The basics of installing MOST mods remains the same on both games but it is not always. Make sure you install both games and that they are running fine. Play each (or one at a time) for a bit to know they are working. Modding is NOT for the faint of heart. It is not always a "plug and play." Though there are mod installers (like NMM) to assist with Skyrim (and some newer Oblivion mods) you still have to have a basic understanding of what is happening in order to get the most fun/least amount of frustration. I recommend before diving in (and I know it is very tempting) is to watch Gopher's videos about adding mods to Skyrim (as I said it is similar to Oblivion) and there are several but fun and very good. Start here: Once you have watched these then begin your quest for modding glory!!! But remember, just like a starving man should not gorge himself on food, just add one mod at a time and make sure it functions well before adding more and more and more. Back up when you can and remember almost everyone messes up this stuff at some point. The worst you have happen is you have to reinstall and start a new character. If something like this is going to drive you 110% nuts then be careful with modding. Remember if you aren't having fun, why are you doing it? Good luck and if you have questions the file pages have a hand link to the forums of each game (saving search time on the forums!) come on back! *waves*
