LW EW 1.0 on OS X with massive bugs (i.e. reload doesn't work)

I have installed Long War EW 1.0 for "OS X" (using the shell script installer) and found it to be unusable because very basic things simply don't work or fail from time to time. Reload doesn't work at all. When I click the reload button, then the gun is flashing exactly as if the soldier is supposed to shoot next turn (the amount of ammo needed for a shot is blinking). When I confirm the reload then I find all guns still not reloaded the next turn. Another example was a soldier which had the turn ended after having moved a few steps, not giving me the action. He was definitely not dashing.

Has anyone else encountered such issues and are there cures for it?

Standard boilerplate LW response follows:

Long War bug reports should be checked first in the "Long War" download page "Bugs section" and then in the appropriate Beta Feedback thread in it's "forum section" before posting to ensure a response. (The LW Team has stated they don't check the main forum at all anymore for problems. Really, the dev team is the most likely to be able to help with a LW issue but anyone else who can also will be there.) You may also find that the answer is already known and posted in those sections.

Check that you have Steam in "offline" mode.

Review the "checklist" in the "Basic Guide" (see below).

Disable your Anti-Virus while installing.

Be sure to read the "Readme" and "Detailed Troubleshooting" documents included with the LW download before reporting bugs. They need all the information requested there (including which OS platform: Windows, Linux, OS/X, ARM/IOS, etc.) to be able to help. If they can't reproduce the problem, they can't fix it. You increase your odds of getting help by re-reading included documentation and following instructions on reporting bugs, and then documenting what you have already tried ... in detail. Short "it's broke" reports simply generate requests for more detail; wasting time. Better too much detail than not enough. (Remember: This is all volunteer support, including the LW dev team. If you won't put in the effort to provide a good bug description, why should they spend time prying it out of you if it sounds vague enough to likely be something covered already?)

While the LW installer handles any code modifications for you, it is still necessary to prepare your system for mods as laid out in the wiki article "Basic Guide to installing mods". The "Environment" section in particular still applies to LW, and the "OS/X mod installation" section has specifics for Mac versions. There is also a "Linux Differences" section.

The first recommended fix is always to upgrade to the latest version (currently 1.0). Be sure to check the release notes for the effect upon a saved game.

That 'bugs section' link in your boilerplate answer leads me to the main forum page, I can't find any 'bugs section' anywhere. I even can't find a search option for the forum there which is quite amazing. I would be happy to provide detailed information on my issue and thus helping to improve LW, but in order to do so, I need to know where to post my report and I need exact information on what information to post. It's a mystery to me why even searching for 'Long War Bug Report' in google does not give me any clues on where to post bugs.

Sorry about that missing "bugs" section. It used to be in the same row of buttons as "Desc", "Files", etc. along with the "Forums" button. Looks like someone has reorganized that page since the final v1.0 release. (I've updated my boilerplate.)

I've also lamented the lack of a search function on the download page forums. Complain to Nexus staff in the Site Feedback forum (which does have a search function). They have to be the ones to implement it.

This thread is for OS/X (Mac) users. That error indicates you are using the Windows installer instead of the OS/X one.

"Instalarion" is new one to me, but I see from the buttons that you are using Polish as your system language. Assuming "instalarion" means "installation", the error is telling you that it is not finding XCOM under the default Steam install path. Most likely you told the installer the game was installed under the "XEW" folder. Instead, point it to the "XCOM" folder (i.e. "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown") and it will find it's own way into the "XEW" folder on it's own.

If you have XCOM installed elsewhere, you need to read the accompanying Long War documentation for the command line switch to tell it the correct path.

Also, as I recall Long War only supports installation using English as the system language. You may already be doing this, but just in case: Set Steam to use English until you successfully get Long War to show it's logo on the Main Menu. Once that occurs, you can change Steam back to Polish.

Otherwise, the Long War forum is linked in post #2 above as "bug section" though that takes you to their main forum page instead, now. They can best help, as that is where the LW team provides support.
