bomberman5555
Here's the down-low, I need someone to make a Multiplayer mod for New Vegas (Like the GTA:SA multiplayer mod). The needs are atleast 2 player Co-op, other mods need to be allowed to be supported (such as Weapons, Quests, and Armors), different types of game play (Competitive, Cooperative[siad that earlier], Co-op zombies is a maybe).Since I can't mod worth a damn I want it done in about a year and a half. Just post a comment if you will, If you won't help then just don't post. If you have advice, or something you want to add to it, just post a coment and so the modders can think it over, if its not accepted don't *censored* and complain. Sunnie
You do realize that the this Gambryo engine wasn't designed with multiplayer even considered as an after thought? There was an attempt to do a multiplayer mod back in the hey-days of Oblivion, but it never really achieved real game play by any stretch, and had tons of limitations. My opinion, you are barking up the wrong engine for what you want.
Unlimitedrevolver
The needs are atleast 2 player Co-op, other mods need to be allowed to be supported (such as Weapons, Quests, and Armors), different types of game play (Competitive, Cooperative[siad that earlier], Co-op zombies is a maybe).1. Having mods might require the other player to have the same version of the same mods, then again it might not.2. Like Sunnie said, this game's engine was not designed with multi-player being in mind, and so with that in mind, I'm thinking this would not be just a simple mod, and it could end up needing to be upgraded for multi-player. If you get an efficient team together it might only take a few months to a year.3. Co-op zombies isn't needed if someone makes an upgraded engine, you just need the normal zombie mods.4. The servers might be a problem depending on who is hosting this game, in my opinion this game could handle 4 players, but you'd need a good host.5. I believe there is various methods to make multi-player work, though not all of them give good performance. Now, I have no idea if anything I said here is true, so don't get your hopes up. Nazi Zombies - http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39765Zombie Apocalypse - http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37067Zombie Apocalypse Retex 2 - http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=42020 Edited June 7, 2011 by Unlimitedrevolver
Sunnie
As unstable as this engine is to begin with, I really don't think adding complex network support to its code base (yes it will require some hefty engine coding) is going to make for anything fun (unless you think lots of crashes are fun). Trust me when I say that this is the "wrong" engine to try and make network capable multiplayer.

bomberman5555
Well the'I want it' was if you want to help make this a reality I want it done in a year or so incase if there will be a new Fallout. If you don't want to help just don't say anything, okay? P.S. This isn't going to be a paying job, to say, but you might be paid in praise?Oh, and Unlimitedrevolver I did say if you want to... Trust me when I say that this is the "wrong" engine to try and make network capable multiplayer. If Minecraft(made by one guy) can have like 20 players play while constantly destroying and placing things in a "never ending" land, then it wouldn't hurt for two players to play, right?I mean, I can run FNV on medium settings, but I can barely run Minecraft on lowest. I am aware that this is probably due to bad coding on MC's side, but still...I guess the engine in Fallout would need performance improvements first though. ...I want it done in a year or so incase if there will be a new Fallout.I know it isn't Fallout, but Skyrim is coming out in November. Maybe someone could make a Fallout overhaul for it and add co-op.Then it wouldn't truly be Fallout though...
keldoclock
The thing is, Minecraft has multiplayer support, built into the game. Fallout's engine doesn't have anything. Obsidian/Bethdesa didn't even try to add any sort of 2nd player provisions- god knows how much more buggy the game would be with two players messing things up. Minecraft runs slow on your computer because of how minecraft works- it's got blocks! In most games the ground is just one object, but in MC it's thousands! That each have to be tracked separately! It's not that the Fallout engine needs performance improvements, what a modder would have to do would be: 1. Figure out a way to HAVE two players in the first place.2. Figure out a way to control the second player(on the same computer? Same monitor? First person? LAN?)3. Figure out how to make NPCs respond to the second player.4. Figure out how quests will work when there are two people playing them.6. Find and fix the millions of problems that will come up once hes done. The closest thing to co-op is , and even that isn't full co-op - the second guy is playing on the same screen on the same computer, using a joystick. He can't aim, talk, use menus, or do anything other than move, switch guns, and shoot. Point is, this would involve a LOT of work, far more than most mods, and just saying "I want it like this make plz" is a bit insulting. If you really want co-op, you could offer to pay, or try doing it yourself- I don't think there are any modders out there that would just try doing this one.
