Your Kind of Side Quest

Personally, I love faction quests, as they allow you to interact with a certain group of people, and depending on the faction, determine how the quests are carried out. We've already had a Fighter, Mages, and Thieves guild confirmed, but haven't heard anything about an Assassin's Guild. I kind of want to see the same type of faction interaction we had in Morrowind though. (As in, if you did this quest for this faction before joining the other faction, then your standing with that faction goes away, and you can no longer join them.) Also, factions in Morrowind actually made me feel like I was actually working toward something with the skill requirements as well, instead of just, "Ohey, I'm in the Mages Guild, lets go kill everyone with a hammer" like in Oblivion. Sure, it might be a bit tideous just throwing fireball for a couple of hours(though, it dosen't really take that long in Oblivion), but it kind of dosen't make sense to be the head of the Mages Guild, and not be really proficient in the arts of magic, just the art of smashing. But yeah, dynamic faction quests. That's what I like.

@jhardingame- wasn't dark broterhood confimed? they are kinda like assassin guild.

What i would like is interactive necromancer guild where you can join and do their quests, possibly killing mages guild. Then some treasure seeking quests full of traps and deadly monsters.

no in a interview tod confirmed the college of winterholt, the companions, and the thieves guild. he didnt say it wasnt included he just didnt mention the darkbrotherhood

personaly the dark brotherhood was my favorite faction and the sidequest it provided reallly brought some diversity to the gameplay missions.

I vastly enjoy side-quests that give me a reason to trample about the forests, plains, and general landscape of the world. Of course, I am also the same person that will just walk around the forest in Oblivion and listen to the gentle sounds of nature, so I'm partial to that kind of exploration. Not entirely my fault though, when you only have about 7 months worth of cold, snow, and no green anywhere then you take nature where you can get it.

Quests that remind you that the world is a fantasy game and not just a medieval game with a few magic spells in it are always welcome.Through a Nightmare, Darkly. The painted world, that one daedric quest where you get the orb from the wizard and his tower is all twisted and distorted like an Oblivion Plane.Quests like these are always more fun than your standard "Go kill five bears" type of quests.

I don't think that Bethesda would stoop to making auto-quests if they are just "go kill this many creatures then return". I think that it will be interweaving conditions that aquire random items and make a quest out of them.

Necromancer - Water - Enchanted Dagger = "Help the necromancer Ravire aquire a tome beneath the water to help complete his research. He has supplied you with 2 underwater breathing potions for the task and will reward you with an enchanted dagger. Alternatively, you can report him for necromancy and possibly recieve a bounty, or kill him and take the dagger."

3 conditions made into a quest. :)

We need a mix

Long involved quests with layered choices and moral dilemmas are great for in-depth play and approaching in different ways with different characters

But quickfire quests - 'go and clear out this cave' etc - are also good for a short blast when you don't have much time to play. It makes it feel like you've done something worthwhile in that short play session.

I'm hopeful that the Radiant Story quests will cater for that second need. An infinite supply of reasonably generic (hopefully with occasional twists) quests available for any kind of character.

That should leave the 'proper' side quests and guild quests to be something with more storyline, depth and choices in them.

yeah i dont think bethesda will have go kill quest. Any quest in oblivion that was similar to that idea was just clearing out a dungeon or killing monsters in a area. But i agree with you some of those go kill quest can be fun. I think the radiant story quest will give some quest but not that many i think it will add a lot of cool expierences and stories but theyre not really quest. So dueling someone wont be a quest but it will be entertaining and fun.

i think there shud be a mix though

Why not? There was a quest in Oblivion where your task was literally to go kill six bears and return with their fangs as proof. Not that I want those kind of quests in the game, I'm just saying they've done it before.
