no friendly fire to settlers

i imagine this wouldnt be to hard there was a mod awhile back but it got taken down called immortal settlers this would be a life saver as one misplaced shot during a 40 mutant strong assault on the castle ends in not only do i have to fight 40 mutant with mini guns but i gotta fight the 100+ settlers ive spent hours arming with hitech weapons and decent armour just soo annoying please help

This is a huge issue for me too. I can't throw grenade or shoot anything that has area effect. Once it hits a settler, likely the whole settlement turns on me, and my companion will fire back, and that counts as me hurting my settlers, and the companion will turn on me too. All would happen in matter of 20 seconds.

yeah i feel your pain man aha .... its so frustrating cause i spent hours using settler renaming to creat unique settlers and spend hours of in game time crafting and finding there armours and weapons to flesh out the characters
and just like you said one miss shot or anything with an area of effect will just end up with my own people turning on me and my companions wuold just lay waste to everyone then be pissed at me cause they just murdered a whole damn city



although I am playing around with f04edit and learning how to use previous models of the geck so that i might be able to sort this problem myself
Buut I'm a noob and progress is slow so if anyone could help it would be great )

I was tinkering with "sandbox" entries and I found that you not only have to set NPCs to essential but you have to alter the sandbox slightly. This is why provisioners only get knocked down when they are travelling because they have a travelling package that marks them as essential but they can die if they are within the sandbox of their home settlement which usually corresponds to the buildable area. I could show you how to mark them as essential, or I might be willing to do it if there's more interes.

One general tip for Gamebryo/"creation engine gamebryo 2 the gamebryoing, is that if you accidentally make one hostile action with a weapon, you can holster it, and they will usually forgive you. The issue is that you'd need a more comprehensive mod to make it so they aren't hostile to you again. Without GECK the methods of this would be somewhat crude. I speak from experience because if you see my questmod "Covenant Peaceful Solution" http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11051/?I have modified out some hostility from a settlement but it's a "kluge" solution for the time being because of how obscure the scripts in the game are.
