BTW not ALL congressmen are cheats and liars, just a much larger percentage than the rest of the population (maybe). Aurielius
So why is having a affair with anyone under your authority abuse of power? Abuse of trust is not the abuse of power, its the same thing regardless if your in office or not. Would you rather have murderers or creeps in congress?OK, I swore that I would not rise to your bait anymore, but this is so naive that it screams out for it. Having an affair with a subordinate is abuse of power because you are misusing your position of authority. In many cases the authority figure is in a position to harm the subordinate if she wishes to end the affair and all too often that is what happens. Abuse of power is an abuse of the trust that was bestowed on the authority figure in the first place. Last not by no means least ...what in god's name does line three have to do with anything? It is a total non sequitur to to the previous two lines and a throw away line at best and sheer nonsense at worst. As for creeps in Congress..we have always had some and the occasional murderer also but how you manage that leap of connecting logic is something that is beyond my ken. Of course as usual I await with painful certitude your newest rationalization of your logic train, but that light you see at the end of the tunnel is more likely the headlights of an onrushing train of actual reason than the daylight you seem to think it is. HeyYou
And the attitude of people excusing it because "everyone does it" only ensures it will continue. BTW not ALL congressmen are cheats and liars, just a much larger percentage than the rest of the population (maybe). All of them. Just look at any elected politicians campaign promises, and then compare that to their voting record. Also, I am not by any means "excusing" it. Just a statement of fact. It isn't going to end. We have no way of stopping it. Voting someone else in there, is just more of the same. Politicians are, by their very nature, dishonest. They just couch in in pretty words like "diplomacy", or something similar.

Put it simply yes but what is the alternative .. because simply stopping to vote isn't solving the problem. so if you stop voting you must aplie improvements that are legit to maintain, by the laws of the country you try to make changes to other way your only aiming for anarchy witch is a proven to be a condition that should only be as short as possible. By all humble respect to you HeyYou you need to provide some improvements and alternatives in stating out this. The largest party in America, by the way, is neither the Democrats nor the Republicans. Especially as the law hasn't come into effect yet, they have no way to know how many new agents will be required. http://dailycaller.com/2010/03/22/irs-looking-to-hiring-thousands-of-armed-tax-agents-to-enforce-health-care-laws/ 5 months after Obama took office they hired 800 new agents, even before the healthcare bill passed. The proposed Obama budget for 2009 called for 4500 more agents. Edited June 9, 2011 by csgators

Your vote is merely an illusion that you have some control over the direction this country takes. The folks that provide the money for campaigns decides who runs, and oftentimes, who wins. Unless EVERYONE writes-in their favorite "honest" person, the system we have today, is the system we are stuck with. No one has the political will, (and some would argue, or the desire) to change the system. They make too much money off of it as things are now. They are already talking about allowing Mexican drivers with Mexican trucks that have not been inspected onto US highways, you already have no way of knowing what country your produce was grown in (they all say product of Canada, US or Mexico). It is not a lie to speculate on the direction we are heading. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBmFrYWPoG8 Edited June 9, 2011 by csgators
