This is a mod... for the ladies.

So I have been giving this some thought, and I decided he *won't" be some hard case that needs a'rescuin'.

It occurs to me that the player character is pretty much the only person doing anything, either in NV or FO3 for that matter (with the possible exception of jerk-ass dad).

So this guy is gonna be someone who actually has a life. He has done stuff, and probably for way longer than you. You probably shouldn't call him a follower. He probably thinks you are his follower. He will refer to adventures he has had that you weren't and can't be a part of. You can't treat him like a pack mule if he isn't in the mood.

I haven't decided where you will find him yet. I am open to suggestions on that. Maybe Zion. There is not much goin' on there once you're done with the DLC.

I am thrilled to hear this and it's very much what I think myself. An excellent companion should be as unique and singular as the Courier (here in NV) and should be as close to being his or her own person as is possible to create within the game and still be fun for the player. If he doesn't bring his own force of personality, history and experience as a character to the table then he isn't going to be that special or worth traveling with.

You don't explain much about the "You can't treat him like a pack mule if he isn't in the mood" and I don't want to make any assumptions about your plans, but if he's going to be difficult or disagreeable in some moments I hope you are considering making him persuadable. Boone's pigheadedness and the inability to persuade him so irritated me I only took him out once.

Re: Where to find him

I do have a suggestion or preference. I don't own the DLCs so would prefer a vanilla location

Sounds like a awesome idea to me, I like the whole "You can't treat him like a pack mule if he isn't in the mood"... What no carry it yourself! XD

About where to find him, I would suggest a vanilla place as well doesnt have to be easy to get to (though I would prefer if it was closer to the starter area of the game, but thats just my way of things lol.) but the a lot of people dont own the DLC.

I really really really really hope you do this. :D

Honestly I would imagine that in all fallout games when playing as a female you would normally be the strong type. I don't mean to come off as sexist but being a female in the situation the courier finds him/herself in would generally mean you aren't like the other more submissive woman.. Which in my opinion is a great thing.. I can't tell you how many girls I have gotten grossed out by for the fact, that A they won't stand up for themselves, and B they won't fix there own problems. Its very alluring to find a woman who will make a name for herself. So with that said I would imagine then that male companion to go along with the female player would either have to be, equally as strong willed, or submissive.. Maybe opposites do attract I don't know DX

I am a guy and I think the companion should go both ways. Friend to the male courier, friend to the female courier, or romance to both if the player wants. But not forced.. And as I read the above posts I have to agree with quetz, I don't like seeing super models in the wasteland, why would I want to see some pretty boy.. They stand out like a soar thumb and so far beyond obvious.. If I am completely honest I will admit I like to role play a bit in fallout, which is why I love the game so much, and when I seem some supermodel mod someone made for some companion I can't help but think, in a world as a hellish as the wasteland and with Caesar on the move, you would think she would unfortunately be getting raped, robbed and left for dead, just as the innocent courier was at the start of the game..
