If there is one thing i have noticed on the sites, it is that a lot of beginner modders tend to put up very small mods like this one "Rocket Revolver". The problem is that this can get kind of annoying at times. I understand that modders need a starting point, and just messing around with the GECK or TES Construction kit is something not a lot of people understand. I just think that there should be a specific place for all of these mods. Perhaps a sectioned called Simple Mods or something, whatever would do. Just as long as there was a section for things like this. Again, I do not mind that these guys/girls are sharing there beginners progress with the modding scene, it is a good place to start, I just would like there to be a section where said mods could be placed as to not clutter all the other sections. Does anyone else agree? It is an idea i have been pondering about asking for quite some time. Thanks if anyone gives this idea any boost or negative feedback, it is all still feedback.

The problem is knowing where to draw the line. Also, those who don't know how to do any better may not bother with the concept, because they think more of their mods than you do.

I get that, I have taken that into consideration and it is probably a flawed concept/idea but i was still wondering what people thought.

The category is important when searching: if a category is not specific about what a mod does its rather useless -- I'm pretty sure most people search for mods that do specific things and the categories help with that.

Perhaps though you are referring to the weapons category because it has so many mods I think it could definitely use sub-dividing. I don't know how many melee weapons there are, not many compared to guns I think, but if they split it into melee, 1h guns and 2h guns that would be a great start in making it easier to find things.

Would probably be a better idea, could remove a lot of the clutter

I wonder if just having a new tag added to the list might be an easier alternative. Seems as though the tag system should take care of it, cause as Ub3rman123 said, drawing the line could be tricky. Some beginning mods, although focusing on one aspect of the game (e.g. a weapon texture or sound change), it may be quite complicated in the author's mind. So I agree they might not see the need to add themselves to any such category that declares their mod to be "simple."

Again, seems as though this is what the tagging system is all about and was designed for. My two cents anyway

Not every 'simple' mod is 'useless' I have seen several that are consistently on peoples recommended lists and are then often included in an unofficial patch later.

I often see the remark "Anyone could have made that mod" and yes, anyone could. But 'anyone'didn't - Then 'someone' came along and did. One example is the first mod I ever downloaded for Oblivion - all it does is remove the 'loading new area' message that appeared constantly as you moved from cell to cell. It was later incorporated into the unofficial patch along with a few other "Anyone could have made that" type mods.

I understand this entirely. The last thing i wanted to portray was that I thought these modders work was insignificant or something. I just am a clean freak and like things organized .

Hmmm I like this idea, I always flinch with mental pain when I see "Uber powerful automatic mini nuke shooting pistol"

But like Bben said not all 'simple' mods are 'useless'.

Then again I remember when I was new to modding and made them type of things, however I wasn't one to upload them as I was a user of mods before I started making them, so I knew things like that are just junk.

A lot of the "Latest Files" are full of mods like that and most of them I'd throw in a bin and never give them a second thought.

What I'd suggest is a section for new people to upload their mods and receive help from experienced modders and from other new modders to expand their own collective knowledge.

I've tried helping new modders in the past but it just seems futile as the same 'useless' content is uploaded and I feel like a parrot repeating myself to them on how they could potentially improve their work.

HOW DO WE APPROACH THIS?! http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/wallbash.gif

But yeah I like the idea, just won't ever happen I'm afraid.

We have to put up with both ingenious content and 'useless', the trick is to find them yourself :)
