Changing the era after the main quest.

Is there a way to change the era from 3E to 4E. I read somewhere that the end of the main quest is the start of the forth era and I want my calender to reflect that.

The eras aren't judged based on time, but rather by major events. I believe the Warp in the West of Daggerfall was the start of the third era (Or was it something with Septim..), and the coming of Akatosh's avatar signified the fourth era's beginning.

Lore buffs, correct me if I'm wrong. I've only a rudimentary understanding of the larger history.

This is where I got my information on eras. http://oblivion.wikia.com/wiki/Era I'm not knowledgeable on lore myself but I stumbled across this.

I also need to know how the change the year. I tried changing the global variable with a mod but it didn't work.

Basically I the calender to show 4e1 instead of 3e434.

The start of the 3rd era was the conquest of Tamriel by Tiber Septim.

In theory, the 4th era will start when a) a new emporer is crowned or b) a new form of government takes hold. The time between the death of Martin and the begining of the 4th era is the interegnum.

To answer the OP, unfortunately not. There's lots of mods that continue the story after the final event-some even crown a new emporer-but none of them change the era.

I don't know if this is relevent to this topic, but from what I figured through playing Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion as well as much of the Elder Scrolls lore, the third era did start with Tiber Septim and has thus ended with the extinguishing of his line.

Now, this is basically a theory, but even though Akatosh's avatar being seen starts the fourth era, the real forth era MIGHT be the actual emergence of the dragons in Skyrim.

Even though Skyrim is supposed to start some time after the Oblivion Crisis, there have been some periods of time it the real world that are skipped over.

One example of this is the period AFTER the Dark Ages. There's no actual name for the time between the Dark Ages and the Renaissance, so it's possible that there is a lull between the end of the third era nad the true beginning of the fourth era.

Hope this helps in any way
