Civil War - the really useful Overhaul

Okay, I get it. The Mod Request thread is not a thread for requesting mods, or requesting anything else, becaue everyone who posts here is busy working on their own ideas for mods, or on the RL stuff which means they don't have time for modding any more, and hasn't got time to educate every ignoramus who pops up with an idea, so go watch a video tutorial, or read an article which basically says "learn to use CK," as one might say "learn to drive a car." ("Look around and see what the windows do." Um, yes, okay.) That's entirely fair, and I would feel exactly the same way. I'm honestly not carping. What this thread is is basically a graveyard for ideas, a rather oddly named dumping ground for things that will almost certainly never get done.

So here's another of mine.

Looking around the Nexus, I see lots of mods designed to make the Civil War worse. More battles, bigger battles, more sieges, piles of rotting corpses, plague and famine and despair. I'd like to see a mod in which the Dragonborn does what the Dragonborn would actually do, not being an idiot--get Tullius and Ulfric round a table again, without Elenwen this time, show them the overwhelming evidence s/he's collected while going through the main quest, and negotiate a true peace so as to unite against the common enemy: the Altmeri Dominion and the Thalmor, who have engineered this war for their own reasons. I mean, we know this to be true. Why not do something about it?

Of course there are problems. It would have to be a huge mod, with lots of dialogue for which there are no audio files. Also, DB would probaly have to explain why all these notes and letters and journals are in the same handwriting. But I'd far rather do that than end up having to pick a side and fight people I've been getting on well with. Civil war makes no sense when there's a real enemy out there to fight.

There. Now I don't have to think about it any more. :)

You're right, it probably won't get done for reasons you stated. I personally agree there should have been a more elaborate peace treaty but that would result in the dominion acting more quickly when they realized stuff isn't going down like it should. Now I'm hoping if the rumor mill is true about Skyrim 2 (which I personally wouldn't mind a direct sequel though leave the player unvoiced......) that we get to achieve this and play out a war with the Dominion. Anyway I tend to hate both sides of the civil war but lean more towards the stormcloaks even though Ulfric is a douche the nords are being persecuted for their beliefs. I tend not to side with the imperials because they submitted to the Dominion causing inner strife which weakens them even more, making them idiots of war in my opinion. Sadly I want to avoid the civil war aspects all together but I'm a quest wh*%# and break down eventually XD.

Good luck,

Geoff

I actually like both sides--the ordinary people, I mean. Ordinary Stormcloaks fighting for their beliefs, ordinary Imperials just doing their jobs--the weakness of the Emperor and the shower-like qualities of Ulfric aren't their fault. They didn't even get a chance to vote. (Sadly we have no such excuse for the standard of our leadership.)

Skyrim 2? Now there's a thought. I'd probably need a better machine to play it though...

Yeah I will need to update my GFX and CPU soon. EDIT - Possibly even the Mobo....

Please don't call it Skyrim 2.Pisses me off everytime I hear something like that. It's Elder Scrolls 6,not Skyrim 2.

The rest is true however.Requests like this NEVER get done.

........Skyrim 2 =P

Good luck,

Geoff
