ScuzzyB
I guess to start off, I just reinstalled Oblivion on a new computer and I have run into an issue where a large portion of Cheydinhal is missing (The land near the two bridges, right next to the Chapel) and it's causing the town to appear as if it's been flooded with water. I also installed a large amount of mods so I first assumed one of them was causing the problem and so I disabled every single mod and tested it out. Predictably, Cheydinhal was restored to how it was supposed to be without any mods running. Next thing I did was re-enable every single mod and tested them out individually to pinpoint which one was causing the conflict. What I found was that not one single mod was causing the problem and with every mod enabled, there was no longer a problem anymore and everything was back to normal. I assumed the problem was a fluke and I gave up and went to bed. This morning, I booted Oblivion up again with all the mods enabled and once again, the same area of Cheydinhal was missing. I went through the same tedious process of disabling and re-enabling every mod and got the same result where Oblivion will work flawlessly after I enabled each mod individually but after restarting my computer, the problem would come back. I did find that if I try to enable a large group of mods at the same time, the glitch would occur but if I disabled those mods and went through enabling them one by one (and loading up oblivion and testing to make sure they worked each and every time), it would prevent whatever glitch is happening. I really have no idea how to proceed from here. I've tried building the bashed-patch in various different ways to try to optimize the compatibility and I've made sure the archive invalidation was done properly so I really have no idea what might be causing this to happen. I also have Oblivion installed on my laptop with the exact same mod configuration and have never once encountered any problem like this. Does anyone have any idea on what to do? I really can't disable and re-enable every mod one-by-one every time I want to play Oblivion.
eric31415
This sounds a lot like a problem i had with my LOD. I had to rebuild it everytime i played, but objects only dissapeared after shutting down the PC. The culprit turned out to be the User Account Controls ( i had Oblivion installed to the default path on a machine with Win7 ). Creating a "Games" directory and installing Oblivion there straightened everything out.If your new PC uses either Win7 or Vista, this is almost certainly the issue. ScuzzyB
It actually turned out to be a corrupted esp file that had resources that occupied that world space. I discovered it by accident when I started a backup of my Data folder with the intention of reinstalling Oblivion in a last attempt to fix it and during the copying process, the culprit file came up as an error saying the file couldn't be read. I re-downloaded it and everything is functional again. :D I just think it's so odd that it was that easy of a solution. I tested that mod over and over in-game and it always worked properly. I knew it wasn't the UAC because I sorted that out from the get-go. I wonder what would cause a mod to work when loaded manually but malfunction after a restart?
