jonathanprice
So you completed Fallout 4... Doesn't matter what you do in the story though... the prydwin is destroyed. It either succeeded in bringing the institute down, but was destroyed by terrorists who opposed the brotherhood's regime over boston, or was destroyed before even carrying out it's mission. So the brotherhood is united under Maxon right? It's like a combination of the outcasts, the midwest and the brotherhood of the capital wasteland. He carries the name of the founder of the brotherhood of steel and it's unlikely for anyone to question his leadership. When he dissapears what happens? The bickering begins. The brotherhood is in dissaray. The elders of the brotherhood split on key issues. Duties to the people, the preservation of technology and the brotherhood's survival. The key goal is campaign integration. Shortly after installation and completing the game, the events will unfold. The prydwen for example will be destroyed by terrorists if it is not already destroyed. There will be a sequence where you witness the destruction upon returning from a mission via vertibird. Two more airships will eventually take it's place containing the western brotherhood's reinforcements. in T-51 power armour with a slighly different attitude than the brotherhood you are accustomed to... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Eastern and Western Brotherhood of Steel http://i.imgur.com/n4je1.png The western brotherhood remains hostile and unpopular, a reputation that has since infected the brotherhood at large. Their bunkers stretch as far as alaska and the north of california.Forced out of boston, and losing it's leadership in the east under Maxon, the eastern brotherhood centered around the citadel in the capital wasteland succumbs to a more right-wing leadership, as they recieve reinforcements from Lost Hills and Alaska in the west. and in an effort to re-centralize their strength, exploiting the lapse in NCR-Brotherhood conflict. They sent five airships. three to the Capital Wasteland and two to the Boston Area to re-assert their dominance in a massive undertaking and to avenge the Prydwen and regroup what remains of the brotherhood in boston, as historic as the doomed expedition that created the mid-western brotherhood. This time the weather was favourable and the airships arrived unscathed. However after years of separation, the east and western brotherhood are quite unlike oneather. A major difference being the power armour used by the brotherhood of the east and the brotherhood of the west. http://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/120/images/1738-1-1229544492.jpg T 51 power armour, the pinnacle of pre-war power armour technology. It has been adapted, used and cherished by the brotherhood for more than a century. I am a little concerned about T-60 power armour and the lore of it. I thought it resembled T-45 and was simply a upgraded version of it made by the eastern brotherhood. However the soldiers in the beginning have suits of T-60 power armour. I will probably look about renaming the T-60 armour to T-48, brotherhood advanced T-45, up armoured t-45 or something else. as well as modifying the opening sequence so that the soldiers wear US Army olive green T-45/T-51 power armour. As for the T-60armour I think I'm gonna have it so that when the eastern brotherhood fought the enclave in their inferior T-45 armour they combined enclave and their tech and used T-45 as a base to make T-60 which is like the T-45 but with advanced servos, better armour and competative against the enclave's final generation model of armours. For example if the M1A1 abrhams was T-45, The M1A3 with all sorts of gadgets and better armour would be the T-60. so T-60 is a Capital Wasteland speciality created after the events of Broken Steel. The eastern brotherhood use T-60 but the west brotherhood still use T-51 power armour, although aging and pre-war, the scribes and proctors take good care of it and maintain it's functionality. The power armour was built to last, and its fusion cores are designed to last several centuries. T-60 would be expensive though, unlike the T-51 which would be easier to maintain and much more available (military stockpiles) East coast BOS is a red flag and logo used to distinguish themselves as the eastern brotherhood. Whereas the west carry the grey, black and navy colours. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Mid-western Brotherhood of Steel http://i.imgur.com/Jwu1F.jpg The midwestern brotherhood, a progressive and somewhat selfless chapter of the brotherhood, descended from the crash victims of an airship fleet sent to the east coast to assess the extent of the supermutant remnants after the fall of the master. They were the minority of the brotherhood who believed that their technology should be shared and the population of the wasteland be integrated into the brotherhood. Since the midwestern brotherhood is formed mostly of the ancestors of auxiliaries: Tribals. ghouls, refugees, supermutants, you name it, recruited in the brotherhood's desperate attempts to bolster their ranks after crashing in chicago, despite their harsh military dictatorship in chicago, after years of occupation they have a much warmer relationship with the locals. Their ranks are bolstered by those who do not share the west/east brotherhood coalition ideals and volunteers and refugees of the chicago area. Midwestern power armour is debatably a military experimental version of a different direction concerning modern power armour at the turn of the 2070s. It likely never saw service, and it seems unlikely that it was created by the brotherhood with such a lack of resources. They may only have been able to secure and restore a few dozen of these sets of armours. It was likely used as a basis for future enclave power armour based on their similarities. ( X-01 being a marriage of Midwestern power armour and T-51 as it were)Most of the soldiers of the early the midwestern brotherhood do not use power armour, due to being illiterate tribal auxiliaries, though that might have changed. The midwestern brotherhood's logo is all blue as opposed to the brotherhood ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Depending on the scope of the mod and the amount of talented modders I can recruit, and the future DLC of fallout 4 (and the availability of the GECK which should be soon if bethesda have just released their first DLC) I can go one of several ways. What about a Fallout 1,2 and Tactics style world map with small locations to visit?Moving to the edge of the screen or using your vehicle would take you back to the map. Time would tick, and depending on if you're on foot or on a motorcycle, ATV or humvee etc, you would move faster and take less time. I don't know if this sort of function would even be possible but you never know. There are lots of talented scripters out there. Chicago: A new location. The new East/West brotherhood of steel attempt to "Purify" the brotherhood by seeking out the Mid-Western Brotherhood, with the intent of forcibly assuming command and removing the unclean from the ranks, and siezing chicago and it's techological bounties. The mid-west, already having cut communication with the rest of the brotherhood, choses to fight back. The player will enter on the side of the East/West or the Midwest depending on their ending. Chicago would be almost completely devastated, and be the home of Bunker Alpha, first home of the Midwestern brotherhood. The main inhabitants would be the various tribes that surround the ruins, under the control of the midwestern brotherhood. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/6/64/FoT_Bunker_Alpha.png/revision/latest?cb=20130113155811 Boston:The player assumes control of the boston brotherhood of steel following the destruction of the prydwin by terrorists hiding explosives in a supply shipment bound for the prydwin. He regroups and assumes leadership of the east but your brothers put more faith in you than in the western leadership, out of respect for Maxon which eventually leads to turmoil within the ranks. Otherwise if the player is not part of the brotherhood, they chould choose to join the mid-western brotherhood or take steps to escalate the conflict to weaken both regimes so they can be driven out of boston and back to the citadel for good. Maine:There's a DLC where you go to Maine, so maybe Maine could be used. Vault 0 Colorado. The end of the mod may take place at the main seat of the midwestern brotherhood's power. http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/3/33/V0_bos0117.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20061129114517 http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/fallout.gamepedia.com/thumb/a/a6/FOT_Vault_0_Second_Level.jpg/500px-FOT_Vault_0_Second_Level.jpg?version=1b8593d4fbb12391897f99e00a0fac9f http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/8/81/FoT_Vault_0_map_1.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130923062749 Wherever the heck Bethesda sets their next large DLC:It might even be Chicago I don't even know. ------------------------------------------------------------------- New WeaponsThey will be standalone but also part of the mod. What can you expect? Midwestern Brotherhood Modified M2 Browning 50 cal HMG. http://www.iracllc.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/02_IRA011509_BrowningM2_.50CAL_HB_BackLeft_864x465.jpg Found to be more effective than the minigun against the enemies fought by the mid-western brotherhood, due to the punch 50 calibur rounds could deliver.Although dated, the weapon has been updated and can load various ammo types, devastating against supermutants, power armour and robots. Super Power Axe/Proton Axe and Super-Sonic Power Hammer. http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4673/mintzbattle.jpg(semi related legend of the galactic heroes screencap) What better weapon to hack through power armour than a rocket propelled advanced alloy power axe? This will be a very heavy weapon designed for hacking through very robust targets such as tanks, buildings frontline military robots and power armour. Because of this it cannot be wielded without power armour, and even then you will need two hands in order to wield it with power armour. Ideal for a mobile power armour soldier, with for example a jetpack. With it's extremly strong edge, and a powerful enough swing one could split right through both power armour, frame and user, cutting off limbs in a bloody arc. It could also be augmented with elements, paralysing shocks etc.Similarly the super-sonic power hammer can easily destroy power armour components and the impact can even reduce limbs to mush with it's incredible force. Staff wanted! I need talented modders, those familiar with gamebryo, veteran modders of skyrim and fallout 3/nv 3D modellers and writers, as well as professional voice actors My talents lie in concept art, design, modelling textures and writing, I need more talent in order to realize this mod. It may take a long time. Please check out and bump this thread if you are interested in seeing this mod realized. Preliminary goals. Outlined plot, goals, missions as well as reaching decisions on what direction the mod will take. Midwestern power armour model implemented.I want to make a more wieldy modified version, as well as the old version to suit the needs of the midwestern brotherhood and also for nostalgia. it could for example be the power armour used by the paladin who lead the squad to defeat the calculator on display, yet wearable by the player. Recruitment Retextures. Suggestions welcome. For example can you suggest a name for the other airships? Preferably the name of a legendary ship from an old tale, or perhaps in welsh, as Prydwen is welsh for fair-faced and was the name of King arthur's ship when sailing to the otherworldy fortress of Annwyn Edited March 27, 2016 by jonathanprice
Zetsumi_Nihilus
My headcanon has so far been that, at some point between 3 and 4, the Midwestern and East brotherhood linked up and merged, resulting in the construction of the Prydwyn based on the airships the midwest group used in the past, and their attitudes towards synths (Destroy on principle, rather then collect, preserve and hoard, as per their usual MO) being the result of lingering caution and resentment from the war the midwest fought against a robot army, so this fits perfectly, their group splitting off without Maxson uniting them with the former Lyons/Outcast members.I would suggest, try to make the destruction of the Pyrdwyn event fairly organic. Have the player initiate a quest by talking to someone onboard after completion of the MQ, send them to clean a decent sized bunker of mutants or something similar, as if it were any ordinary quest, and have them take a vertibird back after completing the mission, with the airship getting destroyed while they are enroute in the vertibird. If you have them jump off the ship in PA, there may be a bit of confusion or break in immersion resulting from the player being present on the airship but unable to find/disarm the bomb or kill the terrorists to stop it from happening. Instead, this way, there's nothing they can do to prevent it, as they're ashore carrying out a mission at the time, and it's guaranteed that they won't miss the explosion because they're too busy fighting a swarm of ghouls that spawned too close to the spot they were meant to watch from, or simple inattention, as there's not much else to do/look at when you're in a vertibird traveling over the open water. Plus it would just feel more organic then the questmarker telling you to stand on a roof and look at the Prydwyn for no apparent reason. For airship names, the Prydwyn is fitting from the Brotherhood's POV, they see themselves as the defenders of the commonwealth from technological and unnatural horrors, drawing direct parallels with Arthurian legend. Perhaps have one of the leaders of the splinter factions play on this: Have them and their followers be the ones responsible for bombing the Prydwyn, using it as an opportunity to seize power and eliminate Maxson, and name their airship the Welsh word for 'Traitor' or something similar, drawing on being the Mordred to Maxson's Arthur? Possible explanation for the T-60 and the other groups going back to using their more traditional armours after the split - give the introsoldiers T45/T51 instead, and say the T-60 is a redesigned T-45 using more up-to-date technology then the T-51, built post-war to supersede the brotherhood's dwindling and aging stock of T-51 suits, but producing it requires resources from all three splinter groups - the Midwest supply raw materials from their vassal areas back home, the Capital Wasteland provide the facilities to produce it, and they're dependent on the closely-guarded technological secrets the Outcasts acquired during their period of rivalry with the CW brotherhood. Once they split off, no one faction has the ability to produce new T-60 suits, so they all fall back to using their T51's/Midwests/T45's. Canonically inaccurate, but you're planning on changing the lore of the T-60 anyway, and this way, it's name, it's relative absence after the split, and the various groups reverting to their more signature armours makes sense. Your headcannon makes sense in that the midwest would distrust anything machine orientated, but they are understanding of the plight of ghouls, supermutants and other former enemies, welcoming them into their ranks. Whats to say they don't have a guarded sympathy for freed synths that the east finds abhorrent? What if there was a split in the ranks of the midwest too? It is also suggested in new vegas that caesar's legion crossed swords with the midwestern brotherhood. Makes for less confusion and distraction. TeamBacon
This is true but I thought Chicago would make for an interesting linear/open level too. It's something I would consider but how would the brotherhood even know about vault 0? Maybe the conclusion of the mod will take place at Vault 0 when the brotherhood learns of their location and try to storm the cheyenne mountains enmasse The point I was making is that any of the so called Midwestern faction of the Brotherhood left in Chicago are more the outlier group. The Minority Faction as they are called in the game is lead by General Barnakey after the supposed death of General Latham when his Vertibird crashed. No where in official documents does it say when the Minority Faction left California, so we don't really know how established they were in Chicago. They could have been there 10 year or they could have been there 10 weeks... But what we do know is that starting in 2197 General Barnakey started out west, was eventually captured by Gammorin, and then General Dekker took over and lead the Brotherhood into Colorado to fight the Calculator. The original reason the Minority Faction was sent out east on a suicide mission was because the Elders of the original Brotherhood were threatened by their ideas that they should bring more people such as tribals into the Brotherhood to boost their dwindling numbers after fighting The Master in Fallout 1. So any group in Chicago would share that idea. But as far as the deathclaw, ghouls, supermutants, and Reavers... That all took place very far west of Chicago and we have no reason to assume they sent any super mutant or other forces out east to join the remaining army in Chicago. Looking at how splintered the chain of command was after loosing the Vertibird with general Latham and several other high ranking officials, and Dekker being promoted in the field while they progressed through the St. Louis area, we can't just assume that the command back in Chicago even recognizes his controversial decisions to join with the super mutants and others as valid. So in conclusion, I definitely think there are Brotherhood in Chicago. I also however think they need to be separated a bit from the story that happened in Fallout Tactics and associated more with the backstory established at the beginning of Fallout Tactics and what has been mentioned in Fallout 3/4. The only possible Fallout Tactics ending that could fit in with the canon of Fallout 3 and New Vegas is that the 'Warrior' destroyed the Calculator. Any existence of the Calculator would have prevented Caesar's Legion from activity in Colorado and would have been more than prominent enough to be at least noticed by Lyons as he traveled through 1,000s of miles of the territory. (Though based on the strength of the Calculator, chances are there would be an entire empire in the middle of the country that would be nothing short of impossible to miss while traveling to DC) So going by the 'destroy the Calculator' ending, the Brotherhood is stretched very thin over a large area and has to consolidate their forces after losing several frontier outposts. This suggests that they are struggling to keep together such a large area. To me, the only logical conclusion is that over the next 100 years the Minority Faction ended up split between command in Chicago, command in Vault 0, and maybe even others in places like St. Louis. It is clear that they were no longer an all powerful force based on the information we get from Caesar and Lyons, so a splintered Minority Faction is the only thing that really explains this. TeamBacon
So, that being said... If you really want to build Chicago, I am skeptical that you will be able to get a team together to make this mod for you if you can't build world spaces in the Creation Kit yourself. But I can still offer to share a few things that I am working on for my mod. If you are looking for an exact replica of what the 2001 Fallout Tactics graphics looked like, I am not the guy you want to be working with. I am taking artistic license with everything and trying to fit the designs back into Retro-Futurism and the style of Fallout, which is something Fallout Tactics lost. (This is backed up by the projects own director, sorry, but I lost the link to the interview). So I am going off of Tactics designs but re working them to fit the modern Fallout world. So I am making what I call the U-51, which is my version of the power armor used in Fallout Tactics. I am just making it much less Enclave looking, because that is just impossible since Enclave armor wasn't designed until decades later. I am bringing it more back to the pre-war roots of the T-51, but making it the Navy's version of the Army's popular power armor. In my story, it was created as a sea to land power armor unit that could operate underwater. It never truly worked the way it should and the government cut the funding for the project. These armors ended up sitting in a storage closet at the Navy training grounds in Chicago (where all new Navy recruits go to boot camp) and were used simply as training tools. 100+ years later, General Barnakey and the Brotherhood stumble across them and then add these armors to the ranks of their existing but damaged T-51 armors. It is less powerful than the T-51, but these units are in almost new condition in comparison. I might make a few different variations. I am also making several versions of the Humanoid Calculator Robot that you see in Fallout Tactics. I had to drastically change the design to look less Unreal Tournament and more Fallout, but it still pays large tribute to the original design. I am also considering making a Pacification Robot if I have time, but no promises on that.

Honestly your ideas are better, and I like your explanation of the Fallout tactics power armour and thin and barely organized structure of the midwest brotherhood. It was never my intention to faithfully copy the Fallout tactics power armour in its entirety, I was going to incorparate elements of T-51, X-01 and the clunkier, current fallout armours drawing heavy inspiration from it, but all the same distinguishable and familiar to tactics players. (maybe including havok phys cloaks on the left pauldron) So what you are going for is pretty much what I was thinking. I'm a confident 3D modeller but i've never really implemented a full 3D model before, nor do I really know what I'm doing when it comes to implementation (except of simple retextures) Which is why I wanted to delegate more experienced modders who share the enthusiasm for a Power Armour Vs Power Armour super showdown mod. (Like fallout 3 should have been) Building chicago is very ambitious which is why I considered merely making smaller play areas which consist of linear levels or dungeons you have to fight to the end of, only in exterior, bunker or metro settings, This is true but I thought Chicago would make for an interesting linear/open level too. It's something I would consider but how would the brotherhood even know about vault 0? So the calculator is destroyed, that much I think is cannon, afterall there'd be a giant robot empire stretching across middle america otherwise. The midwest is disorganized and split, with the bunkers inbetween chicago and vault 0 going off the radar, being skeleton garrisoned, or being abandoned. But I'd like to think they were still formidable, and bolstered by the ancestors of tribals, and long lived ghouls and mutants or otherwise. Which offends the eastern brotherhood's "Kill all tha muties/no muties allowed" temperment. and would lead to a "purification" I mean think about it, the west and east brotherhood are guarded and occasionally "requisition" supplies from locals. But the midwest invested in the locals. They used their technology for making life easier, making the land fertile and essentially creating their own, stable region. Speaking of reunions, do you think a good name for the mod would be "A tale for another day" ? The other way we could go would be a ressurection of the Enclave because we haven't killed them enough times already... Who's to say they're not frozen cryogenically underground somewhere. TeamBacon
(Like fallout 3 should have been) Building chicago is very ambitious which is why I considered merely making smaller play areas which consist of linear levels or dungeons you have to fight to the end of, only in exterior, bunker or metro settings, The point I was trying to make is that the unspoken law... or I guess I should say pattern around the modding world is that if you can't do it yourself it probably isn't worth the time of other modders to invest in your project. The blunt truth is that writers and idea guys are a dime a dozen around here, and pretty much without exception they lead to projects that never actually get made. I'm not trying to be a buzzkill, just helping you familiarize with the landscape you wish to tread. If you want people to hop on board you have to show up with some substantial work to show them. Anyways, personally in my particular mod, I am leaving much of the Minority Faction a mystery and only going off the story of an isolated unit from St. Louis that lost contact with HQ back at Vault 0. They have no idea if they are the last of the Brotherhood or not. The super mutants lead by a new Gammorin break their truce with the Brotherhood over issues with the super mutant sterility research. I personally voice act one of the remaining Calculator robots who has been a Paladin General in the Brotherhood of Steel for the past 90 years. In the backstory of my mod, Dagger Squad is pretty much destroyed, so there isn't going to be any big power armor battles here. My mod is more of a mystery solving mod, with 4 out of the 5 quests having non-violent options to complete them.

It's true idea guys are everywhere, but most of them have no talent or one talent. I can conceptualize and I can 3D model and Texture, and when it comes to writing i'm not run of the mill, I don't just say i'm a writer, I am very passionate about writing to the point that much of the dialogue in games and film today makes me cringe. I wouldn't expect people to want to help me make this mod without doing much of the work myself. (so I will be updating this thread with my 3D and 2D content, but I'm waiting for the april CK release before I can really crack on with making functional releases of my retextures and weapon mods). I've already done some unimplemented models and retextures. Just wanted to get the idea out there for everyone to see. Don't want you to think i'm just an idea guy who wants to see my idea come to be. I'm a veteran modder of arma fallout 3 and other games though I never released my fallout 3 mods. Hairballtea
This is an ambitious undertaking and one that would be worthy of a whole game in it's own right, sound's brilliant. I stumbled on this because I wondered what had become of the Sarah Lyon's character, she was after all both a competent field commander and being groomed to replace her father with strong support among the Lyon's Loyalist's and I wondered what had become of the outcast's but given squire Maxon's rise to leadership they probably rejoined and strengthened his position with a bloody purge of the Lyon's loyalist's. Which leave's you another opening, Sarah may still be alive and a much closer civil war may still be raging or simmering just under the surface and waiting for the right spark to set it off with her surviving forces now outnumbered and beleaguered as they fight a valiant last stand against the return of the Bad OLD brotherhood or hide in plain sight among it's rank's with it's illegitimate new leader whom has not even earned his place and is not worthy of the title elder despite the strong loyalty and motivation's of the traditionalist's whom placed him on the throne. Perhaps Sarah and her follower's have been displaced but are placed to make a strong return hiding out in a former enclave bunker but not wanting to go into a full out bloody war with there former brother's they nevertheless have there spy's in Maxon's rank's and agent's scattered around the former eastern US, cue the Scribe a wandering former brotherhood scribe whom you meet and can recruit into your settlement's, he is an undying Lyon's Loyalist and left because of Maxon, or is he an eye and ear on the ground sent to the Boston region by the surviving Lyon's faction to monitor what Maxon's forced are really looking for which may something other than the Institute. And could a Resurgeant Enclave be also lingering in a hidden base waiting there opportunity with there own agent's among Maxon's forces or even in a twist about face be new allies of either Maxon or Lyon's, indeed could they even be behind the coup that overthrew Sarah Lyon's after her father's death after forming an alliance with the Outcast's whom then returned to the Brotherhood with hidden motive's.
