todd10
I'm relatively new to PC gaming, so you'll have to pardon what is perhaps percieved as a pretty noobish question. I was just wondering the best way to take screenshots in NV? I'm guessing the console command for toggling the free camera helps... Is there any "hard and fast" rules other than this?Is it best to use the PrtScr button, or perhaps FRAPs or something similar?
Sunnie
TFC (Freecam) is a must, also TM (ToggleMenu) to turn off the HUD. While you can use PrtScr to take pics, I prefer using Fraps for its speed and ability to save jpg pics. internal screen shots are BMPs, which are really large file size. SariDecember
Hey there, welcome to the nexus sites! Some basic console-commands for taking screenshots are, as you said, the tfc command. Also I recommend using the "tm" command as it hides your hud for a clean screen. I also often use the "fov" (fieldofview) command combined witht the angle you would like to set your field of view to. (e.g. fov 30), makes screenshots look a bit more cinematic (deoending on the indiviual picture). There are also some great mods out there that really can help you bring the best out of your screenies. For example if you're into character shooting you should definitely check out the various pose mods by Lostrider and backsteppo.Afaik the umpa animation mod also gives you a small ingame menu for graphic effects like contrast, brightness and color effects, to fo that you should also check out the "The imaginator" or "Cinematech"! Happy shooting Greetz *Sari

Netwit2008
Can't live without my FRAPS! In the trial version you can take .bmp images and then change them to .jpgs to post on the board with your favorite photo editing software. I use Roxio Photosuite. FRAPS will also take small 30 sec. videos. You can also track your FPS. I liked it so much I paid the $39.95 for the full version, then you can take .jpgs right off the bat. There is a little mod called Centered 3rd Person Camera that centers the camera for you: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34744 That really helps when taking screen shots. Those are my must haves for screen shooting. I've made many videos and taken hundreds of good screenies using the above mentioned programs and the commands they shared. Good luck and happy shooting!
todd10
Yeah I think that Centered 3rd Person Camera was the first mod I picked up, I couldn't stand the slightly leftish original!
HWG
You know, you could use STEAM's screenshot service... by default the key is F12 and it will both save it to your disk and upload it to their cloud servers... just a thought.
ita
Also, if you haven't figured it out already, do not forget the commandtfc 1It works just like the regular togglefreecam with the added bonus that it freezes all animations and on-screen action.
