new cheaper build

Recommended Posts

so with me not being able to build my old final build due to finance issues, im asking the community if they could put together a cheaper build. maybe around $800 or so?

at the end of the summer i still may be able to build a PC. if i cant afford my build, i would like to be able to still build something, and $800 is roughly $400 cheaper then my build so i might be able to build that. its possible i might not be able to build either build, and if i can afford it i wanna build my first, more expensive build. but having a cheaper backup build would be nice to consider.

so ya, anyone care to start me off? Thanks all!!! :)

As a quick starter I customized an Ibuypower to around $866 and it is a very solid build. I will show the parts below and if you are building it yourself you should be able to be slightly under budget with your build.

Case

Xion Echo Gaming Case - Black

Processor

[= Quad Core =] AMD Phenom™ II X4 965 Black Edition Quad-Core CPU

Processor Cooling

Liquid CPU Cooling System [AMD] - ARC Dual Silent High Performance Fan Upgrade (Push-Pull Airflow)

Memory

8 GB [2 GB X4] DDR3-1600 Memory Module - Corsair or Major Brand

Video Card

AMD Radeon HD 6870 - 1GB - Single Card

Motherboard

ASUS M4A87T -- AMD 870

Motherboard USB / SATA Interface

Motherboard default USB / SATA Interface

Power Supply

700 Watt -- Standard

Primary Hard Drive

500 GB HARD DRIVE -- 16M Cache, 7200 RPM, 6.0Gb/s - Single Drive

Data Hard Drive

None

Optical Drive

24X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive - Black

Sound Card

3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard

Network Card

Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100)

Since this is pre-built it will be a bit more, but once again I am sure you can stay on budget and still build this since you are doing it yourself. It is a very good computer and should be able to run games like Star Craft 2 on ultra or close to it which is impressive

Well, what I've got now (ordered anyway) is around $800 (less if you don't buy third party CPU heatsink and fan). I've been told by quite a few people on many forums that it's a good, solid, inexpensive build. Here's what I currently have:

Motherboard (it only has one 2.0 X 16 PCIe port :/ so you won't be able to do SLI): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130576

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130661

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811322015

HDD and Optical Drive (combo deal): http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.667935

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277

Third Party Heatsink and Fan: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608016

Without the third party heatsink an fan you're looking at around $770 including shipping. I believe everything here will do good for ya, and you can always switch up the MOBO if you want to do SLI. Hope this helps!

yea i wont be doing a third party heat sink. even on my other build i was planning, i wasnt going to. they arent really needed unless you plan on OCing.

and thanks from both of you.

as i said in my final build thread, i got into an accident the other day so the $1300 i had planned on my PC now has to go to a car. i might have some money at the end of the summer, depending on how much a new car costs, or how much it takes to repair my old car (which ever is cheaper obviously) and based on that will be whether i build my original build, this cheaper build, or no build.

as a reference here is a list of games i play or plan on playing on PC:

Starcraft 2

Daiblo 3

SWTOR

Skyrim

Dragon Age (both)

C&C

FONV

any random RPG or RTS i find

i havent gotten into FPSs yet. i might get BFBC2 this christmas if i get it on sale simply to try it on PC (i have it on PS3 now) but other then that, i plan to stick to the games and game types listed above. as long as the PC can run these games at near max settings ill b fine.

thanks all!
