Re-activating survival mode

Hello everyone,

I wandered on nexus and I've finally found a workaround for re-activating mods. I know this is a beta and we're not supposed to, but my point isn't there so I would appreciate to skip all the moral lessons that pretty much everyone dispense since the release.

That said, I dumped the new survival scripts from Misc.ba2, and I wonder if one of you guys can make a survival mode activator to bypass the one-time activating limit. I guess that it'll be possible to manage it by messing with HC_managerscript, and I've already found some useful methods such as "StartupHardcore()" that is called "onInit", if "(game.GetDifficulty()==6)" is true. However, I'm not a skilled modder (and even more without the GECK), so I'm making a single request: if anyone has time and interest to do this, please go on :)

Anyway, thanks for reading, even more thanks if you're making it, and have a good day folks!

Which setting are you talking about? If you don't know, you can't turn back on the survival mode after you turned it off once. That's a crazy limitation given that console commands are desactivated. And it leads to situations like mine, where you end up definitely out of survival mode because you were forced to use console command to escape the stairs you were stuck under after ~4h without any save. That's very frustrating and from what I've seen on Steam forums, I'm far from the only one in that case.

If you're talking about mods, I know it's a beta and the mods are desactivated to provide a vanilla testing environment. I yet provided feedback with a vanilla game. However, as long it's possible to use mods (despite it's not intended to) and I'm not contracted in any way not doing so, why wouldn't I?

Well you actually are by opting into the beta, try opting out of it and the default survival mode should still work where you can turn it on and off at will. Make sure to backup your saves.

Already tried, but saves are locked since they were made on a newer version :/

Edit : Just got an idea, I opened my savefile with F4SGE and changed the version number from 13 to 12. I'm now opting out/opting in from beta to test if this workaround is working.

Edit 2 : CTD.

Edit 3 : Changed versions at other locations too, CTD. Tried to remove all occurences of hardcore mode and anything related in the hex editor, CTD (yeah, this one seemed pretty obvious ^^). So it seems that this workaround will lead nowhere. I see two solutions: Bethesda removing this stupid limitation in the final release, or a modder making a workaround, although it doesn't seem to interest anyone.
