ravensfan8448
I am deeply apologetic, for I am a complete noob to adding mods all together. I have just recently discovered how to successfully add a mod to fallout 3 and started to explore what other good mods were out there. So here I am, trying to download NMC's texture pack. I chose the performance version, which is a 2 parter. I downloaded both parts and have both data folders waiting in 2 separate winrar things waiting to be extracted. So i go to try to remove the "-12056" from the files like the instructions say but i realize i have no idead how to do this in a normal situation, so i have no chance when its in winrar. so i try to extract part 1 onto my desktop so i can try to figure out a way to delete those numbers, and the instruction only said to extract part 1 anyway. So i get to about 99 % and a box pops up saying "you need the following files to continue extraction: C:\Users\Tyler\AppData\Local\Temp\PERFORMANCE_NMCs_Texture_Pack_part1-12057.rar" then I close that and i get a winrar diagnostic message with that same location plus the same one only ending in a 12056 instead of 12057. So I check the comments on the mod and I see a guy with the same exact problem, but he edited his post saying he just read the instructions and figured it out. So here is a link to the Mod with instructions and all so you all can see what im talking about. If you managed to read through this and are able to help me I am extremely thankful. BlackRampage
Meh, don't worry about the whole "installer" or the renaming of files. Just unpack both .rar files manually (using winrar) and just copy and paste it's contents into the appropriate FO3 folders. It's basically the same principle. Just make sure to copy it's contents into the right folders. Edited June 18, 2011 by BlackRampage
ravensfan8448
yea, i tried to unpack it to desktop so i could do it manually, but it wont let me because it says it needs the next volume. The volume that I have in quotes on my first post. But I have both volumes downloaded and waiting in 2 separate winrars. I really dont know what to do from here. Like I said someone had my same problem and fixed it by looking at the instructions, so I was hoping someone with more knowledge of this could help me fix my problem. BlackRampage
Eh, by the way: When you use the winrar installer to unpack them, you do need to put both of the texture packs in the Fallout 3 folder first, then use winrar to unpack them. Otherwise it might unpack them in the wrong folder. Edited June 18, 2011 by BlackRampage
blove
The files should be renamed to: PERFORMANCE_NMCs_Texture_Pack_part1.rarPERFORMANCE_NMCs_Texture_Pack_part2.rar Before unpacking part1.
ravensfan8448
how do I rename then without extracting?
BlackRampage
how do I rename then without extracting?Eh, the same way as one would do with any other file? For example, just right click on it and select "change name" or something along those lines.
blove
Right-click the archives and select Rename. You do not extract them until you rename them.
ravensfan8448
I am running winrar 4.0 beta, and it does not have that option, should I downgrade? because I talked to a guy yesterday trying to help me and he said he could with v 3.
blove
Do not start by opening the files with Winrar... Rename them first. Then extract the first file with Winrar.
