The appearance mods (ones that are use the chargenmorphcfg.xml file) will either work, or they won't. But there won't be a sudden, "It worked yesterday, caused a crash today" unless something else changed.

So... I suspect IA. It is notorious for causing crashes, especially when entering certain locations (lookin' at you, Denerim Market!) and not playing well with others. (Mods, that is.) The problem there is that just removing IA may not resolve the issue. Certain changes get "baked-in to your save" and will remain even after you delete IA.

A systematic approach is probably your best approach. Remove IA. Does that fix the issue? If yes... Done. If no... Restore IA and remove next (non-appearance) mod. Rinse-Repeat.

Good Luck!

P.S. Are you using the LAA hak? If not, that may help extend the period before you really need to Save-Exit-Restart the game, even if there are no other issues.

I noticed that newer OS' have more crash issues with this game. When I played it on a laptop running Vista back in like 2010 it never crashed but on windows 7 and 10 it does. I still get random crashes for no reason even after making sure none of my mods conflict, kind of sad that Vista was the one OS that seemed to run the game like a dream at least in my experience even with a horribly slopped together override folder.

When did you first start using IA? ver. 2.0 wasn't even released until 2012.

(I'm just suggesting that you're remembering how stable your game was in its pre-IA days... :whistling: )

You're thinking too small, Thandal. ;D

JB Textures is also known to cause issues and autoloot can cause problems with any mods that add new 'placeables' - specifically storage chests and crates.

So I suggest following Thandal's initial advice. IA can be difficult to remove, you typically have to go to a Save before you 1st entered an area due to the 'baked-in to your save'

  • 2 months later...

LOL I removed IA and everything associated with it and now all the soldiers at Ostagar are naked. Just need to figure out why. I removed IA because every time I go to Denerim I crash. After reading the posts here figured I would that.

With Flash's creature rescale, I have a naked Bann Teagan, with sword and shield hanging from his back.

I think it's funny since, after reading the "hottest NPC thread" all male-interested members seem to agree he is the hottest male in Ferelden.

EDIT: I was actually going to write "all females seemed to agree" but then I thought "ok, how do I actually say this in 2016?"
