Installing mods into Survival beta breaks weapon scrapping

It seems using any mods in the Survival beta breaks weapon scrapping. It will list a bunch of stuff you will get, an imcorrect list by the way, but it only puts 1 steel into your Junk, the rest is put into Misc and is unusable. It will not be recognized for use to build or create gun mods. These Misc items will disappear completely if you save and then load.

It doesn't matter what mod you use or how many, having just one installed with the autoexec causes this problem.

Can others with installed mods confirm this issue?

It isnt the mods themselves but the workaround. If you merge the mods into automatron it doesn't happen.

I undestand why they disabled mods, tbey dont want people reporting bugs caused by the mods, not the beta. However, ironically, if they had left them enabled people wouldn't get this bug since they wouldn't need the workaround. That is why I thought it would be good to post this since, like it or not, people will use mods. People need to know the broken scrapping is caused by the hlp workaround and not a bug in the beta.

This is an open beta, are you surprised some people are using it for early access? That is typical for an open beta. Anyway I think it is good some people are using mods as that is what will happen once it is in final release. Just as long as if they find a bug, they uninstall all mods to confirm it is a bug in the beta and not a mod, before reporting it.

Nothing about that validates trying to use mods with the BETA. Beta open or closed is for testing, and the only reason this is being allowed as an open BETA is so that everyone can have the option to test it for them, not as some sort of early access. That mentality is how we go from open BETA's to closed BETA's. Your last line is the very reason why they disabled mods for the BETA, because people are wasting their time and resources on false flags with their mods.

Either do the BETA right, or not at all.

If the GECK had been available from DAY ONE, not only would all the obvious bugs have been fixed by now, a VASTLY superior survival system would have been modded into FO4.

Beth is experimenting with closing down mods, cos it wants online ACHIEVEMENTS as part of the 'survival' mode, and in the sad world of console gaming, mods are considered as 'cheating' when it comes to 'achievements'.

People who bend over backwards to excuse Beth's inexcusable behaviour are helping create a situation where Beth's future open-world titles will be even more dumbed-down for console players.

And think about this. The BIGGEST console titles are those that are more like traditional PC games than earlier in console history. So PC gaming trends have actually won out. It is hopeless developers and publishers who refuse to accept this, and keep saying that computer gaming MUST be dumbed-down to maximise console sales.

iD literally died as a company because Carmack and his fellow directors insisted on betraying their PC history- and looked instead to the (then) worst aspects of console gaming.

Beth is not experimenting with shutting down mods. That is tin foil hat theory.

People who refuse to accept the rules of the BETA testing do not belong in the BETA.

Next time you want to argue against it, have facts not sky is falling rhetoric.
